We often get asked how we determine whether we are going to use carbon fiber or metal when manufacturing a component. The question is generally followed with, “Carbon fiber is very strong and very light, why not use it for every part on the aircraft?”
This is a great question that we thought others may want to understand why carbon fiber works well for many areas of the aircraft, but not so well for other areas. This video covers several high level considerations when trying to decide between carbon fiber or metal for your next aircraft component.
