This video is an awesome Trek FX Sport 5 carbon hybrid bike. This thing is sick, and a killer hybrid bike. Superlight, very comfortable with the rear isospeed and of course disc brakes. It is a wonderful ride and a heck of a bike!

I’ve been riding my FX5 for a couple years and love it. I use it primarily for paved trails and urban streets but also on some weekend country rides. On common courses I find that The FX is only slower by about 2mph as compared to my drop bar bike with 25m tires, so not a big difference and comfort is well worth it.

@@daispatrick The store where I bought it wouldn't let me try it before. I'm not sure I would have bought it had I road it for 5 minutes. Here is what I dont like about the bike 1) The seat is too hard for me 2) The distance from the seat to the handlebars is 2.5 inches longer compared to my Aluminum bike so I have to stretch my arms more to reach the handle bars which I dont like. 3) The handlebars are 2.75 inches lower than on my old bike so I got to stretch more downwards also. I hope that when I change the seat and have the handlebars raised that I'll enjoy riding the bike.

I ordered a 2020 Trek FX Sport 6 last week and it should be available for fitting and pick-up at my Trek Superstore in mid June. It cost me $2,099 US plus tax. Pretty pricey but I intend it to be the last bike I ever buy. I will be installing A RedShift ShockStop Suspension (handlebar), Stem as well as a RedShift ShockStop Suspension Seat post to make it as comfortable as possible. I know the FX Sport 6 has the ISOspeed decoupler at the intersection of the seat tube and top tube, as well as the comfort of the Trek carbon fiber frame, but I am an older rider and need that extra road vibration dampening. Basically I am trying to get all the comfort and upright position of a Comfort bike, with the performance and speed of a road bike, wrapped up in a fitness bike. I am looking forward to seeing if it meets all my expectations.

@@BrettL250 It came in 2 weeks sooner than expected. I LOVE it! I upgraded the seat to a much better seat and installed the RedShift ShockStop Suspension Seat post and still waiting on the Kinekt handlebar stem suspension to come in. That seat post is fantastic! It came with cheap platform pedals and I replaced them with clip-ins. I also replaced the flat handle bars with trekking handlebars (look them up on Amazon) to give me more upright position with an option for a lower arrow dynamic position. They were a light as the flat bars. It's the fastest most comfortable bike! Once you dial it in to your body and riding style, you will love it! If bike shop offers you a fitting, get that done to save you time. Let me know how you like it!

@@marco1974 it depends on what you are using it for BUT, in terms of adding things on EVERYONE will need: water bottle racks are a must. I say "are" because I believe a minimum of two are important, especially for long rides. When it comes to flats, the question is not 'if' you will get flats but 'when'. Getting a saddle bag with a tire changing kit are essential. The third essential ad on I recommend is lights. even during the day, having lights on so others can see you is essential, especially when sharing the road with other vehicles (yes-your bicycle is a vehicle too). I would recommend chargable lights via micro usb, instead of the kind that take batteries. And make sure they have daytime running lights capability and I wouldn't get anything below 90 lumens.

Ive just purchased a Trek FX2 and compared to my last bike, an electric, I love it. The weight is so much more lighter than the electric. I’m not a serious cyclist but weight is very important to me. I’m 58 now and will use the bike for cycling to work, a measly 4 miles both ways and for casual rides. I’ve always dreamed of having a nice light weight carbon bike but wonder if I’m punching above my weight. Budget is an issue, but I’m prepared to pay a price within this range. Any comments would be much appreciated.

I know Trek calls the FX series a "hybrid," but I would caution anyone against the idea that this bike can do (in James' words) "just about everything." While the FX may be able to handle some beginner trails, this is *not* a serious mountain or trail bike, even with the carbon body. The FX is light and fun on roads and well-paved recreational trails, but keep it there. Signed, an FX3 disc owner and rider.
@Jamesthebikeguy
@Jamesthebikeguy 3 жыл бұрын
I suppose this is why lawyers are involved in any wording, and everything now requires an asterisk. The Trek FX is more or less akin to an SUV. When someone buys a BMW X5 they buy it because it "can do everything". I.e. drive fast on the highway, tow a trailer, go down a fire road, carry the kids in comfort. When I say a Trek FX "can do just about everything" I suppose I am expecting a level of intelligence in my viewers not represented in your comment. Obviously, this is not a race bike, obviously, this is not for "serious mountains" as you suggest. What I mean is this can: commute to work, ride with the kids, do a long road ride, be used as a bike on walking paths and national forests, ride on gravel, ride on junky roads, ride to the local coffee shop, etc. So like I said, "just about everything". Your comment is a great reminder for me that "someone" is going to do something stupid. Life requires context and critical thinking to understand, so don't take every word a nobody KZfaqr says as gospel. Time to get out the whitewashing handbook and make it stale so no one can possibly misunderstand.

I have one, and it is fantastic. I am 54 and not looking to race, but I do want to go as fast as possible within a comfortable set up. The only reason this bike isn’t as fast as a traditional road bike is because of the slightly more upright position. But if you aren’t routinely riding above 20 mph, the difference is negligible. I am not a strong rider - FTP under 2w/kg - but can easily hold 18-20 mph for extended stretches. Obviously not what a competitive racer would be want, but for almost any other amateur rider this is ideal. I’ve upgraded to 35mm tires, which makes it even more comfortable for long rides.

He said you won't regret it. He was right. The difference in road feel as I go over fairly rough stretches of pavement is amazing. The carbon actually makes cracking noises as the bearing is pressed in. I was concerned they were destroying the frames. They use a paste which is a type of a glue to make sure it stays in place. I believe most of the carbon frames will be moving to the new T47 bearing system currently being used on their Madone, Domane & mountain bikes. The press fit idea was a very bad choice by the engineers.

This is not what most people wanted a bike today. Flat bar road hybrids like this are still made by a few brands. Most are looking for simpler drivetrains and a wider range of uses. You can always recreate one of these like this purchasing a Domane and installing flat bars

It's a shame that they insist on gearing a fitness bike that's marketed towards a soccer mom in the same as way as a Madone that's marketed to someone who wears a skinsuit. Why not 46x30 or even a 44x30 crank?

@@kaiul2967 The bikes top gear is 50x11 and with a cadence of 80 rpm you're moving 50 KPH (34mph) for someone who too shy to wear "spandex" I suspect you're not strong to spin half the gears on that bike.

I would have a very difficult if not impossible time parting with 2G's for a Chinese made Trek or any other brand for that matter. I guess I am old school. I still own 3 Trek bikes. Two from the 90's and one from the 80's which I purchased all brand new and all of them say made in the USA on their frames. IMHO Trek has forgotten where they came from.......their roots. They used to make a quality American made bike years ago but their quest for highest profits has led them to sell their soul to the devil........errrrrr I mean China. Same thing.
