It is time to rethink the effect carbohydrates and fruit has on people with diabetes. Cyrus Khambatta, PhD., co-founder of Master Diabetes, is living with type 1 diabetes and practices what he preaches - a healthy diet filled with the proper carbs and an abundance for fruit!
He joins “The Weight Loss Champion” Chuck Carroll to explain why natural sugar eaten with whole fruits containing fiber won’t raise blood sugar.

My oldest son is in his early 20's and he has type 1 diabetes. But thank God for this piece of article kzfaq.infoUgkxVYhghKWmrUgXARZ_ydZTvmmcrw5L0I5i At first he thought he had the flu and was lying down on the bed for three days until his sister took him to the hospital. They took his blood and it was 600. What I do not understand is how he could have gotten it, since no one in the family has it. But he is winning the battle now. This is good stuff.

*My daughter drinks lots of water and urinates with the same rate, there are no other symptoms to show if those have anything to do with diabetes. This is a good information that I have gone through **Diabets.Care** She is 2 years 9 months, hale and healthy, have not done any blood test. But I am not certain if one can get diabetes at such a tender age. Please I will like to know more on that*

@@eileenramcharitar4777 im on medformin 500 mg twice daily and atorvastatin. Everyone has their theory and his seem to make sense. I did IF and Keto lchf diet. I eat low carb and hf which im going to cut. I notice i am consuming a lot of sat fat. I do notice my blood glucose reading went from 198 to 82 since i did keto. At the beginning i followed my pcp and dietition advice but after every meal my glucose results was skyrocket high so i change the diet to IF and Keto. My pcp says there is no cure for T2D and i will have to be medicated for life to keep my disease under control. Since i dont know what harm the meds will do to my vital organ, i dont want to be medicated for long terms. Meds do damage to our bodies but my pcp says it wont harm my organs but i will still have this disease and there is no cure. He told me i look fine for someone who is overweight. I asked if i should try to loose the extra pounds and he said nothing. So the food recommendation did not helped me but actually harmed my body more everytime my blood glucose spikes to 198 bc my blood vessel would have to work overtime and it puts stress on my heart to work harder to pump the blood throughout my body. This is messy and confusing. Finding new ways or diet to help my condition to improve so i can hopefully become meds free.

While one might not "spike" anything (though, protein can be insulinogenic), that's only addressing symptoms and not the underlying issue. If I bang my shin on the coffee table every day and cause pain and swelling, I can take Advil to counter the effects. But, the solution, of course, is to move the coffee table. So, people can eat low-carb diets and flatline their insulin response, but that doesn't correct the underlying issue of being unable to metabolize whole food carbohydrates.

I am very happy to find this channel and conversation. My mother was diabetic and I literally watched her get her blood sugar down, to where she no longer had to give her self insulin shots, so I realize it can be done. It's knowing what works for you as stated with the goods and trying different things. My sister in law just lost her 41 year old brother. He just could not get his food intake together, nor, was he able to stick with his insulin medication. Truly sad heartbreaking 😢 situation.

I am from a small island called Pohnpei in the north pacific ocean in the Micronesian Islands. The people of these islands have been eating coconuts for thousands of years. There are many ways to eat coconuts or for using it in food and they do not include the oil. When the coconuts are young you can drink the water/juice and eat the soft meat in it which is jelly like and very good tasting. The only problem is most coconut trees are pretty tall and you would have to climb it to get the young coconuts. The other way people eat coconuts is the old coconut after it has fallen off the tree. You can eat the meat in it after removing it from the shell with a knife or crating it with a crater. You can also crate it and squeeze the milk for cooking or for making oil for using on your skin or for fuel. You can also eat the pulp in the coconut after the coconut sprouts and starts to grow. The islanders never used the oils for eating or cooking as far as I know. Thanks

My wife went to whole plant based diet and it wrecked her health. Bananas and such whole grains raised her hemoglobin A1C to 10.5. Now that she goes to high good fats and low carb diet. Fixes everything. A fib gone, A1C normalizes to 5.4 and continue going down, blood pressure normalizes.

EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT!! That is why YOU need to discover what works best for you! That also means HOW MUCH of what you eat as well as WHAT you eat. That is why meter before you eat can tell you what to eat or what you can or cannot get away with. BUT FIRST you need to discover which foods that spike or doesn't spike your sugar in the first place. That being done, I may want a certain food for lunch. So I check my meter reading. If low, I can do so. But if a little on the high side, or "iffy" I may need to go to something different that I already know won't raise my reading that much. It's experimenting and what I call "kitchen lab work." Sounds complicated but once you get the hang of it, like traffic laws, it becomes automatic. Start simple with favorite foods and find out what works. Say, broccoli, unsweetened applesauce and kidney or black beans don't "work", try broccoli, unsweetened applesauce and brown rice. If that works, you know you have a winner. But remember, it also depends on the amount you eat. 1/4 cp? 1/2 cup? Make it a game and have fun in the experimenting.🤗

And this is total misconception that confuses everybody. Low carb = short term results, long term consequences.

I am SO glad Cyrus said that, yes, we are all different! What agrees with one person does not always agree with someone else. I met this woman who was diabetic and she was married to a diabetic. They both reacted opposite to beans and rice. One did well with beans but not rice, and the other did well with rice but not beans. At least, between the two of them, they had a full meal. :-)

so what about adding pure sugar to a food that contains a lot of fiber? Does the sugar bind to the fiber and digest slower, or does it just kind of remain suspended inside the high fiber food and digest as a pure sugar? I ask because adding sugar to oats would be less calories and cheaper then adding fruit.

Regarding the smoothie, do you mean put the greens and celery IN the smoothie (which is what I do)? Will that help slow down the glucose molecules getting inside our blood? Also, what about putting in nut butter and/or protein powder such as raw pumpkin seed protein in, which is what I use?

Nowadays, it is quite simpler than ever to avoid the pedantry of doctors and health gurus regarding sugars and diabetes. Just buy a glucose meter and find out for yourself the foods that send your glucose up. If a calibrated meter said that food X is glucose-rising, then it is bad regardless of the statements of any health guru.

I made and ate my standard meals then took my sugar levels 1 hour and 2 hours after, if they were above 6.5 I would modify them or cut it down a little, this didn’t take long as most of us have only about 10 or 11 meals. White bread was my weakness so I started making my own almond bread that’s very high in protein

Have you tried eating each of those foods separately? It could be you are allergic or sensitive to only one of those foods. I can’t imagine anyone having a problem with ALL those foods.

Oatmeal may cause breakouts, oranges may cause breakouts. Try these foods separately. The acidity of oranges are known to create breakouts in skin as they agitate the tissues of your cells. Oatmeal can be a little fatty depending on how you prepare it, it can also cause breakouts.

I was just diagnosed with type 2 my bloodsugar was sky high 18mmol back in August 2022 now in November 2022 after eating im mostly between 7-9 mmol. it spikes a few times a week due to trying new foods but thats ok it wont go higher then 11 mmol when it happens and i can get it back to more normal within the hour all due to eating more plants and exercising 30-45 min a day. I do have issues with textures when eating food and this helped alot not to stress myself out over what i can eat as im very limited with food.
