- set up your threads for horizontal stripes 6:40 - check card threading 7:34 - change card threading direction (flipping) 7:58 - check the thread's width/spread 8:40 - make thicker stripes 10:00 - for wider stripes reverse turning direction 11:19 - dark threads on top, light threads on bottom (reversible weave) 12:48 - angle patterns (notching) 14:52 - zigzag 18:20 - diamond 19:06 - undo a row mistake 24:05 - choose weave pattern 26:57 - stitch the weaving 28:10 - avoid bulky folds and lining 31:17

Thanks for sharing this, Pat Cumming! Instructor Candace Crockett is legend! I came here after watching Morgan Donner make a card woven hem on a 15th century gown, I’d never heard of card/tablet weaving! Human creativity is glorious

I stretch the threads on a wooden roof lath frame 40 cm wide and 245 cm high with a toothed ratchet tensioning belt, I use SPRO-barrel swivel-with-carabiner-safety-snap-swivel-barrel against the thread twists.

Dumb question: do the size of the cards or the number of them determine the width of the project? Size doesn't matter, right?

The size of the cards doesnt, the amount of them does. Smaller cards simply give you less space to move your shuttle in between, so you dont want to go too small. And the more cards you use and the thicker the yarn, the wider the project will be.
