Swansea City Association Football Club is a Welsh professional football club based in the city of Swansea, South Wales that plays in the Championship. Swansea City represents England when playing in European competitions, although they have represented Wales in the past. They play their home matches at the Liberty Stadium.
The club was founded in 1912 as Swansea Town and joined the Football League in 1921. The club changed their name in 1969, when it adopted the name Swansea City to reflect Swansea's new status as a city.
In 1981, the club were promoted to the original Football League First Division. It was during the following season they came close to winning the league title, but a decline then set near the season's end before finishing sixth, although a club record. It was from here the club suffered a relegation the season after, returning to the Football League Fourth Division a few seasons later, then narrowly avoided relegation to the Football Conference in 2003. Prior to playing home matches at the Liberty Stadium, the team had previously hosted at the Vetch Field. The Swansea City Supporters Society Ltd owns 20% of the club, with their involvement hailed by Supporters Direct as "the most high profile example of the involvement of a supporters' trust in the direct running of a club".
In 2011, Swansea were promoted to the English Premier League, becoming the first Welsh team to play in the top division since its formation in 1992. On 24 February 2013, Swansea beat Bradford City 5-0 to win the 2012-13 Football League Cup (the competition's highest ever winning margin for the final), winning the first major English trophy in the club's history and qualifying for the 2013-14 UEFA Europa League.

Despite the negatives of this season, this result just perfectly makes up for it. The spirit, the character and the drive for the manager that this team showed today deserves some praising. Even though it’s an unbelievable last minute winner from Big Ben; it probably makes up for all the late goals we’ve conceded! I love this club and I love this team and manager! Keep going Russ, here’s to the Premier League next season 🎉

I cant believe that RM still has any confidence in Fisher. 2 easy saves and his butter fingers nearly lost us the game AGAIN!!!!! Apart from Fisher another great performance over another Cardiff team who deserves nothing. Well done the Jacks. STID

What a day, sweet result for a poor season, looked great going forward, but at the back.....I kept shutting my eyes. This may well relegate Cardiff, Huddersfield are starting to play well.

Great result, if we’d have been a bit more consistent who knows where we’d be, but that’s for another day, let’s just savour this win. We deserved it in the end, how we allowed a really poor Cardiff side to get back into it was frustrating, complacency perhaps?

As much as I love the swans and hate cardiff, I wouldn't want to see the bluebirds relegated, welsh football needs there clubs to be as high in the leagues as possible.

Lovely unbiased commentary from two Jack clowns. The ref should be dragged before the EFL for playing 9 mins of e/t when by the commentators admission it should have been 5 or 6. They had to transport the ref away in a black maria.

Great Win BUT - the same old Swansea City Story = Dominate and take the lead. Sit back/pass around/waste time and worst of all - STOP ATTACKING!! Allow Opponents to gain 'the momentum' and get back into the game. It's just lazy.

Nice video but that was a dreadful free kick that led to the winner. Shows why both teams have been struggling.And just for the record - anybody who scores can be great but they don't score enough? I only say this because the squeaky voiced commentator also slagged BCFC off when we won at their place. KRO
