We will add more modules later, see this list for what may be added: github.com/DISTRHO/Cardinal/wiki/Possible-modules-to-include
@_DRMR_
@_DRMR_ 2 жыл бұрын
Dealing with all the different licenses that are included is quite a hurdle, of course we also have to verify all licenses (especially for projects that include other external code or that have specifics for their module designs etc.) We also require compatibility with `GPL-3.0-or-later` to ensure future compatibility (you don't want your patches or projects to break in the future). So many limitations apply, but all to ensure that we can use this plugin for many years to come!

@@_DRMR_ Thanks for your reply. That's too bad. Does Cardinal have any modules similar to Simpliciter (morphagene), where you can slice samples, mangle the slices, and use a sequencer to switch between slices in a rhythmic way?

@@eddrupz1805 I don't know all 623 current modules by heart. Just look in the library and try it yourself? :) Any suggestions for what to put on the list (GPL-3.0-or-later compliant licensing) is welcome.

Thanks for this short demo - I did'nt know Cardinal existed before now! One suggestion: Standardize the color scheme for your patch cables for easy reference in the future! I suggest; red for audio - blue for Clock/Triggers/Gates - yellow for V/Oct - green for modulation. A fifth color was introduced in VCV Rack 2 (not sure why) which is purple by default - Send/Return (aux) audio maybe? Anyways, excited to see you doing modular stuff as well!

Nice! Can’t you just route the vcv rack mixer module output to a track in ardour through Carla or something like that?
@nitroanilinmusic
@nitroanilinmusic 2 жыл бұрын
Not sure if I'll make any sense here, but the plugin experience really changes how you approach VCV, even if it's essentially the same software. The freedom to slap it in a track allows you to see the whole thing as something more "granular", so to speak. While you can use the standalone rack as a single synth or as an effect, it feels much more natural to do so as a VST.

Love your videos! I'd like to get your advice with a problem I'm having: I have an old laptop (i3 2nd gen) so I had it run Lubuntu, In addition, I have an MPK88 keyboard which I'm using as a digital piano. The problem is that I can't find light enough softwares to run only an LV2 plugin like mda piano or light sfz (like sfizz). I tried carla but it crashes after two~three hours of being open even if I'm not playing (I suspect some kind of memory leak). I'd love your two cents about it, THX so much and keep on posting!

Random question: how to CVs work? If I send audio, normalised to 0dbFS in via a CV input, the level is very low. With the CLAP version, I see only 8 audio inputs in Reaper. Is it the case that CVs are treated separately in CLAP? And do they use different values, i.e. 1.0 = 1V rather than 1.0 = 0dbFS?
@unfa00
@unfa00 Жыл бұрын
Hmm. Honestly I don't know. In Cardinal it seems like +10V is the maximum I can do so I assume that's 0 dBFS, but I have no idea really. You can ask in my community chat, I am sure people there will be able to help :) chat.unfa.xyz

This depends what you mean with "the downloaded files". You should keep the `CardinalSynth.vst` folder intact, for instance and not just copy the files inside of there to some folder. It sounds like you are using Windows .. I can't believe this OS makes it so hard for people to copy some files over to a folder (you are not the first user to mess up with this so I can't entirely blame you).

VIRUS :(
@unfa00
@unfa00 Жыл бұрын
What virus? Are you using Windows? Do you mean Windows' dialog that says "we protected you from bad software"? That is a very misleading pop-up because it shows up for *everything* that isn't very, very popular and doesn't have enough reputation in Microsoft's database. Microsoft knows it's OS is most vulnerable to malware and it's users are notorious for being clueless and careless, so they've put up this scarecrow as poor means of mitigating the issue. There is no malware here, this is open-source software and as long as you download it from the developer's website, and not some 3rd party site (that repackages software adding adware, shovelware or malware to the installers) - you are fine. Of course it is possible somebody will spoof the website and make you download a malicious file instead, but unless you're Edward Snowden I don't think it's that probable.

@unfa00 Not at all! You made it sound great, most of the modules just inherently sound very poor by nature. VCV is a tool to learn eurorack, a few of the physical eurorack modules sounds amazing but most don't and are again more great for the learning experience. The software eurorack modules that'll impress anyone are in Softube modular but if your looking for a great sounding synth vst eurorack is a bizarre choice. It just is whst it is, it can't help that, Cardinal is a port of a learning tool and advertisement for the actual hardware.
