As a under 35 who started as a senior pastor in January of 2020 as well, this was an encouragement to hear the stories from William's mom's church pastor. What a year to start being a Senior Pastor 😂🤯🥴🙌

Carey and William, I cannot tell you how refreshing and invigorating this podcast has been to listen to. I had a pretty awful melt-down at my former church over circumstances that happened just before leaving---and then found out there were other issues of neglect by the leadership that were unknown to me for over a dozen years before leaving! I stayed too long because I didn't know any different, and it was crushing to find out after the fact! Secondly, you can only imagine how difficult it is to find mentors within a local church. A person has to really "beat the bushes" and cautiously speak to others before finding a person(s) to trust. This podcast should be required listening. Thank you!!

Good Stuff. The Turnover Conversation (13:00) was clear and insightful. I also liked the "sidebar" conversation that touched on the "prophet-priest-king" concept. I believe that concept could be given some more mileage. The Tim Keller reference (28:00) was a strong illustration that highlights oft-forgotten perspectives. Personally, I enjoyed the conversation that touched on Transitioning from Spiritual Pastoring to the Secular Profession (58:00). Thanks again.

2020 was the year spouses quit on their marriages. I'm shocked at how many people I've met that separated late summer of 2020. It is fascinating.

I've been working on my flexibility. My goal is to dribble down the basketball court and jump from the free throw line, dunk the basketball, then go into the splits as I land on the ground. That's my goal before the end of 2021.

I've noticed that "big" and "successful" are used interchangeably in North America in reference to churches and church leaders. They may not mean it that way but it's a disturbing narrative. What message does it send out to young leaders? Something to be very careful of, I believe.

'Biological fact, church fact, company fact', bizarrely interesting business language attached to what appears to be a fact about the body. Wondering what it means that a fact, maybe you could call it a truth (?), Isn't simply a fact. The fact remains the same in different surroundings?
