What was the reason for the yellow masking tape, if it doesnt stop the overspray? A small rust spot, became a huge repair area.

I wouldn’t describe it as easy, especially for someone with no painting experience, plus there are several items there which the average person may not have, such as a spray gun set up. Great work though, the repair looked flawless❤.

Rus will appear in min 1-2 years. Unless your remove all rust spots you cannot stop rust with rust sprays.

Having watched this video I saw some mistakes made in this repair and as a professional automotive repair business owner I am just going to point out the most important. First the technician carrying out the repair visually was not wearing dust mark or vapour filter mask, also spraying outside is dangerous for anyone who is not wearing a mask that is close enough to inhale any of the dust, vapour or any other airborne particles present and what with spray gun vapour is airborne I didn’t see that the rest of the car was covered to prevent overspray covering the car making more work in it’s removal.

I feel someone should mention that you are not supposed to expose high build primer to moisture because it is pourous and absorbs water.

Always wear a respirator/air system when spraying 2k clear! Isocyanates are hazardous!

На кислотный грунт шпаклёвку наносить нельзя! Только через акриловый грунт- это раз. Второе- видны следы сквозной коррозии, поэтому крыло нужно ремонтировать изнутри тоже! Этот ремонт чисто для продажи авто. Да и средствами индивидуальной защиты не мешало бы пользоваться

Hello what is the reason you use body filler? couldn't you just spray mimer , then the color coat, then clear? thanks

Some primer does actually work as filler too, but only for not that uneven surfaces. So you could do that, if you have primer that also acts as filler. Using real filler will usually give better results, but it's more work.

I have a similar repair over rear truck wheel. I am using a spray 2k clear can. Would it be better to loose mask around area and spray color then clear coat, then try to eliminate any halo or transition with wet sand? Any ideas, trying to avoid clearing the entire rear. Thanks

Needs to learn more and improvement but still good job Keep the 80 grit sanding to very limited area otherwise you have to fill a lot Don't let the paint dry before putting a clear coat.-> I have never seen anyone cleaning the paint coat before the clear coat

2:04 yeah, because you had only a small amount for an hour. You have to apply multiple coats. Also, not a good idea to use red primer under blue base coat

This is all and good IF the rust begins and remains on the outside of the fender/wheel well. But, as those of us who live on the North-Wet Coast and locations that use copious amounts of salt on their roads know all too well, rust in these and many other areas begins on the inside and bottom edges of fenders et al and is a full-blown cancerous mess by the time the first signs of rust appears! Replacing the fender is the only viable course of action in nearly all cases.

3 months you have rust again. You need to weld new piece in it.

Tbh should of just took fender panel of sanded it down treat rust and prime and spray and clear coat would of beeb cheaper u wastedd so much tape andd created a big problem and wider problem doing it that way but im not a expert

On the inside of the wing you also need remove the rust and apply an anti-corrosion coating.

@@arturssrl5329 99 percent of the time people cant do the painting themselves, as someones whos just done this with a 3 series, wing was 70 quid, get it painted and blended was another 150, it would have been 200 to sand, treat, fill, mold and paint to repair the rust, with no guarentee it wouldnt come back as rust can be fickle

Сумасшествие и отвага. Чуваку вижимо по кайфу дышать химией от краски и лака, поэтому он залил всё крыло, хотя можно было нормально и кусок подкрасить а потом лаком и полировкой вывести в один уровень.

Great comment. Why are people so concerned about a little rust spot. Quicker way is sand just the spot, spray/brush on rust converter, spray/brush on color. It will rust again anyway. If it doesn't look perfect, so what.
