Whether you've been caring for the elderly during COVID at home, or they are in an out-of-home setting, these 4 months seem to have flown by! Aging parent care is hard enough on a good day. But 120 days of COVID is getting to be more that some family caregivers can bear. This video is a message to all of you out there who are sacrificing to make sure your parent is safe and cared for, even if it means it makes your stress level go through the roof, or makes your heart break. Find something good that can come of this situation and hold on to it. Hold tight.

So happy to hear you are taking your own advice! Yes, it is so important to find time for yourself! I brought my mom home from the nursing home a few weeks ago. Her high anxiety and depression just was not allowing that situation to work. I found a wonderful sitting company that was interested in my services to barter for a rate we could afford! It took mom about a week to adjust and she still called me wanting me to come over 3 times a day, but she now loves her sitters. Now when I visit, I can truly visit and not be her caretaker. That’s what the owner told me anyway. Wow, all I can say is what a relief! I pray you will find that happy medium in your life as well!

Oh, I'm so glad to hear that your mom is settling in! I'd love to hear how you were able to barter for services....good for you!

Sofia Amirpoor I am a recently retired grant writer. The sitting company owner wants to convert her business model to a nonprofit and find more grants to help seniors pay for their care. She currently has bake sales and numerous other fund raisers to help seniors have a more affordable rate! As a nonprofit, she will be able to qualify for so much more. I’m helping her find grants.

Thank you ❤ I haven't seen my mom in four months also with her in a nursing home. She is blind and has dimensia. My dad is in assisted living so I don't see him either. I'm very close to them. Most days I can look on the bright side but it's been one of the biggest hearbreaks I've ever felt. Your videos are very encouraging!

My life is on hold too. Two elderly parents that I’ve had to take care of every imaginable need since this pandemic. Dementia and wheelchair bound and as children we just aren’t emotionally equipped to bathe our parents to start with. There is a lack of available caretakers because of COVID and it’s so expensive. No light in sight. Ugh. Just can’t.

Cricket Cobo, hang in there....I know it's hard. This will end...when...who knows, but it will end eventually. Chin up and take one day at a time. You have a handful and it's hard. My thoughts are with you.

Seriously? You’re VISITING your Dad. And now you have decided to reduce your visits? I take care of my Dad 24 hours a day with no breaks. You think it’s a stretch to visit your Dad. You shouldn’t be telling actual caregivers what to do when you just visit your Dad and his care facility does the work for you.
