I have high-frequency severe T. One time I played a video on my phone to show my doctor what it sounds like. It’s a piercing shriek. He listened for a few moments and said, “Wow! That’s terrible. …Okay, you can turn that off now.” I replied, “No. I can’t turn it off. I wish I could.”

Exactly! When one suffers with tennitis there is no such thing as quiet time. I have to keep reminding people that the ringing in my ears is louder than their voices. I'm about to get a t-shirt about it so PERHAPS they'll be aware. 🤯👂

I have the same kind of T going on for 33 years. Happened with mycin-based ear drops. Nothing changes in the tinnitus world that I can see. Lots of clinical trials of all styles. I just had to get "used to it" which is not fun at all. I'm now 70 years old.

Fantastic lecture. It explains very well why I, a person with cervical osteoarthritis, who was for 3 months suffering with pulsatile tinnitus, had it disappear when one day I heard this loud crack in my cervical spine area. I must have had a carotid artery narrowing as the result of cervical instability and somehow the crack was a signal that it had realigned to a normal alignment.

@simonf.2504 Жыл бұрын
@@iLumiinater I had gone to a physiotherapist and he had recommended some exercises mainly to stabilize the neck area and bring myself into a "neutral" position. I don't believe those helped much as I have been working out more or less for an hour and a half to two hours every day for the last 40 years. I don't think I had any weakness in the neck area it's just simply wear and tear over the years causing the osteoarthritis. When I heard the crack I was actually lying in bed on my back and I just moved my head a bit and that's when it happened. I strongly believe there was a misalignment issue and it had been confirmed previously by a chiropractor but I was not a big fan of him manipulating my neck area so I just left it alone.

I also have a small "narrowed" ear canal in my Left ear. I wanted to say thx for teaching me why and what all this about. I've had many Ear doctors but none explained it like you have. No hurting pain at least. But it taken months. I have high pitch constant buzz at right side. but neck pinched at left side somewhere C3. It also experienced temporary pause in my Tinnitus in the firts copuple of weeks right afert boxing exercise. Shacking the head at each punch. So some mechanical problem, sure, with aging-I feell cracking at C1 as well in the last couple of year.

Really solid explanation. My dentist insists tinnitus is caused by teeth grinding. My ENT insists it is neural feedback. The dentist thinks it can be cured with a mouthguard (it wasn't) and the ENT thinks it is incurable. I'm looking into bimodal stimulation to see if that will work, as it is less expensive for me than flying to Ft Myers.

With tinnitus, I've been so lucky. Until my 50s, it was always only ever a low grade whooshing sound with intermittent spells of more bothersome ringing that never lasted too long and intermittent accusations of suffering from selective hearing. Lol. From childhood thru 30s, hearing tests always confirmed that I have excellent hearing. Meanwhile, from a very early age, I insisted on sleeping with a fan blowing in the room for white noise, even in winter. In my teens, I went to work at a fast food joint where the radio was constantly playing and there was a constant sizzling noise f/all the fried foods not to mention the constantly crackling customer order speaker. Hearing issues, especially sound sensitivity, got a little worse, but nothing too bad. Then, in my early 50s, I started getting ear aches. They got severe enough that I was sure there was infection. Three times I went to my Primary Care Physician who would have a look, pat me on the head, and send me home like a good little hypochondriac. Finally, one day I saw his PA who took it more seriously. He tried a few things that didn't work, then sent me to a specialist. The specialist couldn't find anything wrong, either. Suddenly, I had an idea. I'd had other neck issues, so asked if severe neck tension could be causing my earache. He said definitely yes! Now, for ALL my neck related issues, I do a lot of stretch, strengthening, and self-massage exercises to relieve neck & shoulder tension and improve posture. Some of my other neck & ear issues include: intermittent sound sensitivity (hyperacusis - pink noise may help?) including, once after an evening at a loud concert, sound distortions; hearing my own heartbeat, temporarily relieved by moving my head/neck until I find a quiet position; TOS (thoracic outlet syndrome - I found exercises on KZfaq that directly address TOS after, yet again, doctors didn't want to address it); tension headaches; occasional mild dizziness; and, weirdest of all, brachioradial pruritis. MRI of neck spine has shown nothing majorly wrong with the bones, just the beginnings of a little fusion in one spot. Instead, all these issues seem to be about poor posture, tension, repetitive use injuries (like wielding a sledge hammer to do demolition work or painting the kitchen without taking a break), and the same occupational hazards suffered by most who have a desk job and forget to take breaks. Acupuncture has helped at times, sort of. That rare massage therapist who really listens was helping before she moved to Mexico. She not only provided symptom relief, but also educated me about tendinosis, muscle tension, and sticky facia. Sounds a little fru fru, but don't knock it! Some physical therapy has helped. A big help came from the following web site: deeprecovery.com. I purchased their Neck Track and some balls of various sizes and densities. I've also gotten GREAT balls at the Dollar Store! I kept experimenting. I found videos for such things as ulnar nerve flossing and other weird stuff, a lot of which actually does help. One example: I have a sock into which I've inserted a WalMart regulation "soft ball" (it's not really soft), then another, smaller ball (that is really soft) that I purchased from deeprecovery. I stack them like a snowman, using the sock to keep them aligned, then I lay on my side on a floor mat and position the side of my neck such that it's resting on that smaller, softer ball. The bigger, harder ball elevates it so that it can reach my neck. Using the weight of my head to push my neck into the snowman, I can then massage those hard to reach areas on my neck and at the base of my skull. That's just one example. This is SUCH a long comment, but offered in the hope that it helps others, especially those in rural areas with limited access to medical providers. Mostly, just don't give up. Validating, educational posts like this from Caring Medical are SO helpful and encouraging. Hang in there!

Thank you for this clear presentation! I only have mild tinnitus, but I have long believed that my Eustachian tube dysfunction and trigeminal nerve discomfort are caused by an old injury in the cervical region. Unfortunately, here in Ontario medical specialists (in any field) are hard to find and most of them have learnt nothing since completing med school. If you have ETD your physician will refer you to an ENT specialist who will probably tell you that ETD is not a problem, or at best will advise you to use an antihistamine. It seems amazing in this day and age that we don't have doctors here in Canada who understand that spinal injuries and instability can cause neurological issues, but that certainly seems to be the case, from my experience. I have given up hope of ever getting any sort of help with my Eustachian tube dysfunction.

If I cover my ears, the sound does not diminish, as it really seems to be in my upper cranium, in stereo,and in multiple waves of very high pitched sound. A veritable orchestra, different tempos, but always loud and insistent, more so when I feel sick, worse when I’m trying to sleep, even if I treat myself with soothing sounds. The sounds are like jet engines, but when I’m in a plane, the roar of the engine’s pitch is never as high as mine. My ent does not have any suggestions, but your lecture has been helpful. Watching this a year later... I have tinnitus(a high constant ringing). I get lightheaded from time to time. I have an inconsistent high systolic BP(one day it's good, the next it isn't). I've had a CAC scan and I have a little plaque in my LAD(index of 120). I've had my carotids scanned and their bilateral functionality was perfect. I have no other diseases, and a BMI of 18. I'm on a 40mg statin. No other medications. I'm a former athlete and have crashed many times cycling. Including a slow speed head on with a car(lucky to be alive actually, walked away. Mild concussion. Windshield glass in my shoulder). I've recently had an MRI and have spinal Stenosis, caused by a combination of disc herniation (C2-C6), arthritis, and a modic type II observation on C4. I've never had a brain scan, or a diffused MRI to measure spinal cord health. And I have even worse issues in my lumbar spine. Luckily my thoracic spine is perfect. Next week I see a Neurosurgeon. So, weird question, would cervical spine issues increase ear wax production (on one side). And would these issues cause vitreous detachment?

Have been living with tinnitus for about 10 years. It was gradual- off and on- over about a two year time span. Then it became full-time by 2011. It is a high-pitched hissing noise, reminds me of singing high-tension power lines. Recently, I had a couple days where I did not have the noise and I have no idea what made it stop. Then next day it was back. Also, I had noticed a few years ago, that if I had a lot of physical activity, such as working in the yard, cleaning house, lots of walking around, lifting or moving furniture for a day or two, exersise, it either temporary goes away or lessens to where it isn't as loud. However, later it comes back. Maybe it is a spinal/cervical connection? I used to get a lot of pain in my neck at my desk at work, but have not had that problem for a some time. Also, when I worked in a call center back in 2005-2007, I was exposed to some very loud high-pitched ear-piecing noises about twice or so per shift, that came through my headphones on outgoing calls. This noise all started about a six months or a year after leaving that job, so figured that was the cause. Now I'm not sure what the cause is.

I was looking for a person with similar symptoms for a long time and I found you! :) I have the same symptoms that with more effort my tinnitus subsides. This is due to the fact that we have a problem with the neck and the bent vertebral artery. The artery is compressed and does not supply enough blood to the head, and tinnitus begins. As you work harder the pressure rises and more blood is pushed through this artery and the ear ear starts to work well. When I came back from the garden yesterday, I had no squeak at all, I measured my blood pressure, it was 145/95 and the noise disappeared, when the pressure dropped, the noise came back. Like me, you had a problem with your neck and a bent or compressed artery. Need to test blood flow with contrast. What is your noise level on a scale of 1 to 10? Has it increased over the years? do you hear the pulse of blood in your ear? If

@@freetracklaserclip3704 - That's interesting. Saw a video awhile back where a chiropractor was explaining about, I think, the inner carotid artery, being compressed. That is possible. Another theory (or maybe not a theory) by Dr. Eli Wallack- he wrote "Dead Doctors Don't Lie"- says it's osteoporosis of the scull but I think he mentioned about the nerves being compressed from scull bone shinkage. Either thing sounds a bit hopeless. I work at home so a lot of sitting at a desk. It's bad when I wake up, is most noticable or when quiet.
