The vagus nerve is thought to be a contributing factor to some manifestations of tinnitus. While my tinnitus has not gone away completely, the intensity has decreased considerably. I explain why this probably occurred in this video.

Wow this explains my anxiety/chronic fatigue even more.. After watching I can feel so much on the left side of my head/neck that I was unconscious of before. Since watching you a couple months ago I'm starting to physically sense how my body has been patterned and twisted up - but it's slowly getting better. Thanks for your work and glad you popped up on the algorithm

i am very much intereted in this because i've been fighting with tinnitus for 5-6 years now but tbh it wasn't the reason that brought me to watch this video. The main reason is the vagus nerve i've been doing some research on mantras in the last week and what i've found is connected with the vagus nerve. It appears that mantras have some physical effects on us since when you speak or chant you produce a vibration/frequency/hz and it already well known that sound has effects on us. I have found out that the sanscrit language is based on around 50 syllabes and each of them is not a word but a sound and the main mantra i've been looking at is the classic OM or AUM, in this research the author talks about the effects of the sound MMM (which you can do with your mouth closed), he found out the this sound boosts the production of nitric oxide (NO) which is responsible for many things included nervous, cardiovascular, immune system and more, this sound, this NO is actually very powerful and can be helpful if you have problems. In the video i have watched before this, the guy said that this MMM can also be helpful on the stimulation of the vagus nerve. For effects of NO you can look pretty much everywhere but i've used wikipedia. Source: www.ijastems.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/v3.i6.5.Scientific-Analysis-of-Mantra-Based-Meditation.pdf I want to say i am not a scientist myself, i just have "part" of a foundation degree so i might not be that clever but i just wanted to share my knowledge on this subject and i hope it could be helpful for someone. However, i practice yoga, i am buddhist and chant mantras and this is what gave me curiosity on this particular subject. Plus English is not my first language so if you find mistakes i am sorry but speaking already two languages isn't easy lol. Bye bye

I've had tinntius for 5 years and it is hands down the most debilitating thing I've ever endured. Suicide thoughts turned to plans turned to actually telling my adult son of my plans begging him for his forgiveness and understanding of my wanting to end the torture. For me it's not just the ringing in my ears, it's a pressure cooker inside my head, a boiling kettle about to whistle it's steam. Absolutely debilitating. And jumped off the richter scale in loudness and intensity within the last year. It was tolerable before, but torturous now, and 24/7 Interestingly, my nan and 2 Aunty's also have tinntius. I've also got a heart arrhythmia, SVT, which has also intensified over the last year, my heart had to be chemically flatlined last year then injected with 6mg adenosine to restart it, doctors in ER standing over me with paddles just in case. My gut issues and food intolerances have always been an issue for me. Vagul nerve stimulation is a technique I try to revert my racing heart, sometimes up around 200bpm. If I can self revert it within 2-3 minutes I'm okay, if not, it's a guaranteed ambulance trip to ER and a 4hour session of monitoring and reverting attempts. If there is 0.0000001 % chance I could even REDUCE my tinntius to a lower volume, that would be heaven. To eliminate it, well that's unimaginable, the holy grail!!!

So I have tmj, cervical issues, Gut/ digestion issues, pelvic tilt and what just started for me- a high pitched digital sound when I lay down to sleep. When I calm myself and do Reiki I noticed the sound went away last night finally so I could sleep. If this is all connected to vagus nerve then structural alignment work with a Cranio Sacral specialist and a Chiropractor should really help to heal this along with listening to proper frequencies to correct these issues with right here on YT and energy work too like Reiki for calming CNS.

Overall, PRI is explaining how the body really works. For example, someone in a right TMCC pattern may have vagal nerve dysfunction because the vagus nerve can be impinged. When I talk about other things, it's still PRI because PRI is the best explanation of how humans move, breath, and stabilize in space and time. Whether I'm talking about salsa dancing, or throwing a baseball, or anxiety, it's all PRI simply because PRI isn't a system, it's a description of how humans exist and use "patterns" for everything we do.

I really appreciate your video's on the Cranium and related topics side of PRI. I also have been looking into the cranium side of PRI as I was reaching the limits with the initial foundation topics that you learn prior to Cervical Revolution. Can you possibly do some more videos on this subject and go into "how" to feel those muscles in the cranium as in how to turn them on. I was reading some materal from PRI and when you activate the left lateral pterygoid along with the right medial pterygoid simulataneously while deactivating the left temporal muscle and activating the right temporal muscle. Also if you can put move teh jaw forward and slightly to the right this seems to turn off the RTMCC pattern and activate the opposite side. This also seems to give you more access to the muscles lower down in the chain that you need such as Left IO/TA. I am still a beginner and inexperienced with neural-sensing of these muscles but activating the top seems to give you much better access to the muscles lower down the body when you incorporate the breathing into it. To be honest I think the PRI material should be taught in parallel and not sequential so that you refer back to each discipline and keep incorporating elements from each depending on the stage you are at. Young persons will benefit will probably not need to do much work but the older you are the more work you will need to do with the exercises; and if you got any sort of illnesses and developmental problems then it will be even more difficult.
@NealHallinan
@NealHallinan 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Becka. Thanks for the kind words. You definitely have to take Cervical Revolution to understand why you hit a brick wall with some people when utilizing what you learn from the introductory courses. In CR they teach about the RTMCC pattern of the neck, and they also teach about two cranial strain patterns that come from osteopathic texts: the left sidebend and right torsion. These are the two most common cranial strain patterns that PRI sees and can clearly be viewed as logical progressions from a right BC pattern. This is because of the influence of the right SCM acting to work as a primary respiratory muscle (in the absence of a left ZOA) at its sternal attachment, and also as a temporal bone internal rotator at its mastoid attachment. It's no different than overactive right obliques holding the right pelvis and right ribs in IR. You can just trace it right on up. Due to this internally rotated right temporal bone (left side is externally rotated, just like left ribs and left pelvis), mechanics of the TMJ can get thrown off. Lots of people will feel more right sided molar contact than left sided molar contact. There are some specific techniques included in the course manual that incorporate left molar contact, along with sensory awareness of the left heel and left abs (for left ZOA), that can restore proper temporal position and then people will feel their bite differently. So it's through creating occlusal contact with the correct teeth that restores proper function of the cranial/jaw musculature. The other way it can be done is through pushing your jaw forward and to the left, which will ER a right temporal bone. Some techniques are done in standing (to incorporate sensory awareness of the floor) while some are supine or seated. Interestingly, some people will be able to shift their jaw and restore proper occlusion just through basic PRI exercises. Getting a left IC adductor working to IR a left acetabulum can also "wake up" a left lateral ptyerygoid to IR a left temporal bone at the same time. I would agree with your assessment that the inability to sense teeth properly (and thus the inability to reduce over-activity of RTMCC pattern) can make it quite difficult to feel proper musculature of the pelvis and ribcage. That is really the main point of the Cervical Revolution course: how to restore 30 degrees of cervical lordosis to permit the acquisition of a left ZOA. Overactivity of the RTMCC and cranial strain patterns prevent the achievement of a true left ZOA.

@@NealHallinan 'd just draw your attention to the link below: www.posturalrestoration.com/pri-resources/recent-emails-viewer?article_id=75025 It's one of the questions posed to the PRI site regarding what I mentioned about moving the jaw forward and to the right however you mention to move the jaw forward and to the left. I can appreciate why you mention this (moving jaw forward and to the left) but I think it depends on the order of 'feeling' when you have the left molar contact and when you have the right molar contact but most definitely you need both when doing the breathing . I'd agree with you that it is all about the teeth contact and I've read enough PRI material to understand why this is the case, basically acting like sensory system for the vestibule system strong affecting ones balance. First of all we would need to go with what you state above to get left molar contact which we would obtain by getting into "left stance" This would also give us the inside and outside edges of the left and right side respectively (so effectively the left side adduction, internal rotation, extension Vs the right side abduction, external rotation, flexion muscles). Once we've correctly establish the above then we would then need to get back into right stance (while maintaining the above state of the right ribcage being externally rotated and left ribcage internally rotated) and establish the right molar contact. By establishing the stances in this way, I believe we're going from a concentric state of the left stance to being in an eccentric phase of right stance muscles. The point being we establish left stance muscle chains before we switch into right stance and keep the ribcage in left stance position because as we move into right stance the body will want to switch back into LAIC/RBC and this seems to cause an eccentric or lengthening of the tight right side chain muscles. But you need to initially have a good neural sensing of left side chains of muscles so taht as you get back into right side the eccentric contraction of right stance muscle chains will be overpowered by the left stance chains that you will hopefully have acquired . The main problem I've found with getting left stance muscle chain access is that the left side extensor tone is very significant especially where it runs into the left lower ribs. I have good extension now on my left side in the glute region but the lower ribs flared and weakness of left IO/TA is really a tough one to crack.
@NealHallinan

@@nottingham1 it's certainly possible. It's not uncommon for an occiput to get stuck in a position, relative to the neck, that can cause autonomic issues such as tinnitus. In addition, when the temporal bones, which connect to the occiput, are mispositioned, it could cause ear issues because your ear canals go through the temporal bones. On the other hand, if the tinnitus is caused by over-exposure to loud noise, then nothing I spoke about would apply.
@NealHallinan
@NealHallinan 5 жыл бұрын
@Becka Flynn To be honest, I'm not sure why Ron says to move the jaw forward and to the right. None of the techniques actually have anyone doing that. On the other hand I'm pretty sure I've seen Ron do that with someone in one of the Cervical Revolution classes, when he had a right-torsioned person in a standing position. I'm assuming he is attempting to recruit the left lateral ptyergoid, but that's my guess. In my notes it says that we use the left lateral pterygoid to shift the sphenoid to the left (rather than using it as a muscle that moves the jaw to the right) since in the two main cranial patterns the sphenoid is stuck rotated to the right. Do you have any visual issues?
@beckaflynn1128
@beckaflynn1128 5 жыл бұрын
@@NealHallinan After thinking about it I think it sounds right what you're saying about moving the jaw to the right since that would put the left lateral pterygoid on stretch thereby enabling one to actively contract it and achieve the outcome with the sphenoid. I dont have visual issues but I do sometimes get "hazy vision" depending on how I am orienting myself when sitting. I think it's to do with the extensor tone (which I can feel a lot these days particularly in the left lower rib area) which has a powerful twisting effect that runs through out the whole body. I had this "hazy vision" when I was younger but despite having OK'ish vision the docs. put it down to "tiiredness". I now believe its due to this extreme extensor tone which has pulling and tugging affects on the skull and feet and runs throughout the whole body. Big problem with these powerful tendon structures that can twist th espine out of alignment is that they run diagonally so its not a straight forward thing to rectify this issue. I have had quite a few teeth out especially in the back so I think this might be where the problem originated, in the vestibular area of the nervous system which is strongly influenced by jaw position which gets misaligned the more teeth you lose. This is why if the head is not aligned on the shoulder correctly then getting the muscles of the core to activate is going to be extremely difficult I feel.

I have had some strange symptoms. I suspect a lot of the symptoms are consistent with vagus nerve dysfunction or compression (tinnitus, palpitations, bowel issue etc). Would you happen to have any jugulodigastric adenopathy? Did your symptoms begin with any kind of infection when you were a teenager?
@NealHallinan
@NealHallinan 2 жыл бұрын
I did not have any infection that I'm aware of. I strongly suspect that my orthodontist "locked" my jaw into a bad position and it impacted the small muscles of my inner ear.

@Healing through 🤗 Feeling 🤗 Awesome thank you so much. I will check the video you posted for sure. No. (to the increase in volume with prolonged or intense talking). But yes, increase in volume with opening jaw all the way. Strange symptoms- cranial nerve discomfort on left side of face, left tinnitis, left SP/AP ratio > right, left tonsil asymmetry, left node, left eye astigmatism, left nasal passage swelling, body feels split in half (left head-right side of body- MRI negative), C-7 right dermatome discomfort (w/rash at the terminal end- at the time of onset), dermatographism (highly reactive skin), improves with antibiotics, negative autoimmune markers, liver fx normal, endocrine fx normal, gut symptoms, burning around the perimeter of my head, weight loss, chronic fatigue and a 'partridge in a pear tree'. lol Doctors I see apparently do not think it is meningitis or a central nervous system infection.... but, they don't know what it is and cannot explain themselves either. But hey, what I do I know... I'm just a patient. lol I survived the worst of the condition and what I think was the cytokine storm. Hopefully on the upswing now. Sometimes we have to take our health into our own hands and do our best to help ourselves. Diet, vitamin supplements like B2, C, D, a Mag-Taurine combo and garlic has helped. Avoid sugar. I really think a stronger a antibiotic is in order. I'll keep trying to get better on my own and continue to seek a doctor who will know what to do about it.

Thanks for your videos! I am curious what your opinion is on NUCCA chiropractic care since you mention how important C1 position is. I wonder if that would be a good combo with PRI or if perhaps PRI takes care of everything a NUCCA chiro would do.
@NealHallinan
@NealHallinan 4 жыл бұрын
Kate Galliett Hi Kate. To be completely honest, I’m not overly familiar with chiropractic care so I can’t comment. However what I do know is that if you accept that C1 position is part of a larger overall “pattern”, you have to address the pattern, not just the position of C1. The difference between PRI and everything else (that I’m aware of) is that PRI recognizes that typical cervical rotation is just part of a body that is stuck in “right stance” phase of gait just like so much idiopathic scoliosis is representing a thoracic and lumbar spine that are stuck in right stance. No one realizes what they are looking at.

@@NealHallinan mmm yep I totally get your train of thought here. If one were to only focus on bony positions and managing them, you end up missing what is making the bones shift into that position in the first place. I am enjoying learning through your website and youtube channel so thanks!
