I grew up in a small town like in the late 50's early 60's so these clips bring back very fond memories. My dad owned the drug store on main street which was a "morning before going to work" meeting place for the good old boys who mostly had grown up together. When my dad passed away the services were held in a large church which was filled to the max both inside and out. An amazing time to have grown up.

"Hi Carl. I'm on my lunch break. These are on sale because they're not fresh..." LOL! One of my favorite lines. So hilarious but also so innocently sweet because she doesn't know any better, etc.

The first time I saw this, in a theater, on a really rainy day, when the movie ended, no one moved. Everyone just sat there, stunned. All the way thru the credits, until the lights came on. Such an incredible film.

Seen this movie 1 tine as a kid.. And never was scared of Carl. Not even for the killin he did at the end... Sometimes the good is here in ways we cant understand.

And wether you're a Carl , or a Brad Pitt or whomever , if you have the opportunity to receive this love and friendship from a Mylinda , don't hesitate to pick it up because there is a wonderful thing about to happen. The love of two people whom have never been loved before , and it's a magical and non describable thing and feeling . For it comes from God Who loves us all . Even those that are not loved , he give to them also equally that love until we understand that it's the one thing that cannot be broken.

Bubba, I see you are a Slingblade fan. My nephew was Brent Briscoe. He played Scooter in this clip. Unfortunately, Brent passed away in 2017.

I love how he got the kid out of the barn, something his dad might have done to get him to come out of the shed

After Carl went back to the hospital for killing that guy, Melinda visited him often. Two years later Melinda convinced the Judge to let Carl be released into her custody. They've lived happily ever after since then, and she still brings flowers to him at the shop on occasion.

It's the nuances in the writing that won Thornton an Oscar for screenplay. Karl offering not one but two "common ground" comments (blister sympathy and his thoughts on flowers) to someone just to be nice is a really big deal for him, and makes us like him even more.

This was such a good movie when it came out still is I remember watching it and I couldn't believe it was Billy Bob Thornton he really made a dramatic transformation I'd say go to your local video store and rent the VHS but I don't know where you'd even find it nowadays LOL
