It's criminal that both Dwight and John Ritter were not recognized for their amazing work in this film.

Yoakam is insanely good. Doyle is simultaneously weak, pathetic, terrifying, unpredictable, evil, and legitimately hilarious.

I will NEVER get tired of watching Dwight Yoakum in Sling Blade! I've never seen a non actor do such a great job at acting. I can't stop watching this!

The way I see it, Doyle was the protagonist of this film. He had a dream of forming the most epic band of all time. All of the other characters were standing in the way of his vision.

"You all don't shut up I'm gonna go out of my mind...besides, Carl here is liable to bust a spring...he's already off balance."

I believe every community in the south has its own Doyle Hargrave.

Doyle is hands down my all-time favorite movie villain. I've seen many horror movies, but none of them are as scary as him. There are thousands if not millions of men and women on this Earth right now who are just like him.

Dwight Yoakam did such a great job in this movie. He should've been given an oscar for his role here.
