As I swiftly approach the twilight of my years it is comforting to know that the sport I have loved for the whole of my life is being conserved and promoted by two excellent young ambassadors. Thank you for sharing your love of angling with us all.

Back at the end of the 1960's, early 1970's, Hall &Co./ Ready Mix Concrete (all part of one conglomerate) opened up all its gravel pits for fishing. Wraysbury, Yateley and Darenth were the famous ones, but you also got, Send, Burghfield, Frimley and a whole bunch of pits, the names of which I have forgotten. Membership came with a book with all the pits described and mapped and the cost was £40 a season - which was a lot back then. Most of my great memories come from that era. The barge was painted in those days and had the RMC diamond logo on the side of the cabin. By the mid 70's RMC made Wraysbury, Yateley and Darenth each a single ticket, but for four or five years it was simply fabulous.
