Even though he said the words, "Friendship gonna kill you faster than a bullet," he never doubted his friends' intentions. And it cost him.

Did he die though? The ending was extremely ambiguous

On the other hand, he kills Benny and the cops would eventually link his murder to Carlito's Club, then to Carlito and then it's lifetime sentence... So it wasn't an easy choice either way. The best thing to do was not beating up Benny there, and plan to whack him somewhere else, another time.

All Carlito had to do was give that girl to Benny Blanco and accept that bottle of champain! No big deal! The club owner said Benny was a very good customer...

John Leguizamo does not outshine Pacino. Pacino is the star of the movie and one of Hollywood's top actors. Not even close.

One of my favourite movies,Carlito is a man who has had a bad past,in some people's eyes a bad man but one thing about him is loyalty and eventually it's his downfall.The direction in this scene is fantastic,the way it moves to a hand held camera as if it's a person watching what is happening,a classic movie

He's seeking Carlito's validation from jealousy in a way by sending the bottle to the table and then he sends it back making him turn up that need for it. The movie emphasizes how Carlito lived a life where he was highly respected and feared before jail. But now he's running from that lifestyle while constantly running into people that indirectly pull him back towards it. Benny knows this instinctively and knows who Carlito was in the past. In a way you can tell he admires him until he sniffs out that ''weakness'' in Carlito (The red and white face) and is let down. Knowing hes got him beat he then vows to kill him....(which he does obviously.) I think Benny was the movie's twist for Carlito's end. A message saying you can't run from or forget what you create in life regardless of the lifestyle...

Well I guess is like what the movie said: Benny Blanco is the younger version of Carlito. So Carlito saw himself in the mirror and don’t like it what he saw it.

What an underrated movie. The tension slowly builds throughout the whole movie, and you know there can really only be one outcome.

He was protecting one of his workers and standing up for his pal Dave, his code got him killed. Benny was a butt hurt purse snatcher, he wasn't going to make Carlito's age.

Well GGGR was a play really..... more than a movie. But I agree. Still amazes me how not a single female shown in that entire thing. Men of men in a mens world.

You missed it entirely, there was a weakness in his eyes and Benny sensed it. Just look how Benny is shot-all red, his eyes pure black, almost demonic. Carlito is shot with the white light covering half his face, his right eye looking bright, almost soft.
