Carlos does something I have been thinking for a long time: why players don't use more drop shots against the players that stay way behind the baseline and against tall (and slow moving) players? His drop shot is ridiculous, so short and precise. It gives him a lot of "free" points.

I’ve been wondering the same thing ever since Alcaraz exploded onto the scene. So many players stuck with side to side but what about long and short!? I remember watching Medvedev’s last match and I just couldn’t work out why his opponent didn’t just mix it up and drop in some really short, slow serves. Medvedev stands metres behind the baseline to receive. It would drive him mad.

The appearance of Carlos Alcaraz for the world of tennis is a blessing, he is a player for tennis lovers, no matter what country they are from, .. Right now Alcaraz is generating incredible media expectation worldwide, from the USA to China, Japan, Europe, America from North to South, Oceania, etc... Until the official account of Roland GArros a few hours ago, published an announcement that there was little left for Alcaraz's appearance in the maximum clay court tournament, as if they almost announced the arrival of the messiah... Certainly everything seems a bit exaggerated for someone who has not yet won a GS tournament, but if you see him play and have seen a lot of tennis in your life, you begin to understand why there is such expectation to see Alcaraz at a world level. He is a special player, he dominates all the offensive and defensive facets of tennis, he has all the strokes of the best players, but on top of that some of his strokes are enhanced, improved... And it seems that on a mental level he is at the level of Nadal, Novak, etc... And on top of that we add the factor that physically he is a beast and it seems that he has charisma to further expand the sport of tennis in the world, and On top of that, if that were not enough, he is handsome on the face, because we have some ingredients that we can understand why there is worldwide expectation about Carlos Alcaraz.... I don't know if it's going to be the GOAT or if it's going to be nothing, but it's true that it seems like a kind of BIG THREE in a single tennis player...

@@missbrown5363 It is true that the appearance of Alcaraz worldwide has been somewhat tremendous, without having won a single GS yet, however, things are seen from a different, determining player.... I think it will take time for him to be an unapproachable player, it seems to me that between 1 year and a year and a half, Novak, Nadal, Medvedev, etc. could still beat him well, but as soon as he adjusts aspects of his tennis, I think that by then Alcaraz will be almost unbeatable... He has all the best shots of the NOvaks, Federer, Nadal, etc, but I think that with power, he is faster than them and more powerful, and I think that mentally he is on a par with Nadal and Novak... For this reason, I think that as soon as he refines some aspects of his tennis, Alcaraz will be almost invincible. (He will lose games, of course, but they will be punctual, isolated,...)

Whoever said his serve is not good well.. his position might not be good and doesn't make thousands of aces (which is not necessarily a sign of a good serve) but here it showed its consistency. He won many times games 40-0 with Djokovic ,one of the best returner of all time if not the best, even in breakpoints when he was down and he put pressure on Alcaraz he escaped. Can't wait to see him face Medvedev and possibly at the USO.
@viditsingla6262
@viditsingla6262 2 жыл бұрын
I won't say his serve is not good but his 'flat' serve is a little bit of an issue. He's got the pace but the consistency and accuracy on that is not great. The reason Djokovic struggled against him so much is because of his kick serve which is absolutely brilliant but it's a clay court so obviously that helps. I don't think he would beat Novak with the kick serve on hard and grass courts. So he does need to improve on his consistency of that flat serve and I think he will. Once he does that he will start getting cheaper points which is just scary to think cuz this guy is already dominating opponents.
@nicolasmts3264
@nicolasmts3264 2 жыл бұрын
@@viditsingla6262 one thing for sure is he will struggle with Medvedev at his very best. Serving well against him is necessary because he returns very well and has an unreal defense. Also Medvedev gets every ball back. Korda beat him because of being aggressive all the time and serving well, De Minaur almost beat him because he pretty much got everything back and that shaked a bit Alcaraz's game. Medvedev is sort of a mix of these 2. Zverev showed he is not able to win against present Alcaraz, Tsitsipas same thing

@@emrazum I know that. But don't you think Medvedev has been watching him all this months? He's that kind of guy who breaks down players like Djokovic does. He surely wasn't at home playing games. @divinitymode9364
@divinitymode9364 2 жыл бұрын
I think one of the scary things about Alcaraz is that his first serve is the weakest part of his game and yet it’s already plenty good enough to support the rest of his game and win him so many tournaments. You just know he and Ferraro will be refining it over the off season. I’d anticipate that the 2023/24 version of his first serve will be as lethal as the rest of his game.

As much as Alcaraz was dominating the final, they didnt find one single winning point for Zverev to display in these highlights, poor one

The only points lost by Alcaraz in these highlights were the set points when his opponent won a set. If you could manage to coax your man Zverev to win a set from Alcaraz you would have seen him win the final point here, but there's not may set-winning points when you receive a 6-3, 6-1 drubbing.

Yeah we can chalk it up to Zverev being bad. Though that is the same guy that handled a turbulent tsitipas.
