Well said, that was who would take a chance? But he wanted to showcase his big deal with whatever team would pay him by the name Correa, (Belt in English). Anything over $300 plus under Boras... Watch them go back to the Twins begging to make a deal, for less. Spring training is close by, plus the World Baseball Classic tournament... I think that teams will wait to see how he does in the Classic...

Not worth the risk, of all those years. He is not a 40 home run guy. He needs to be able to run. Steve Cohen didn’t make 20 billion by taking bad deals. I think this works really well in the Mets favor. Yes, backing out of the deal entirely would not look great for Steve Cohen, but it now makes Correa more affordable because three teams now have reasonable concern for his future. I believe a restructured deal for less years, same or slightly less money will come soon. I think it won’t be proposed over 8 years to avoid another Bobby Bonilla disaster.

My guess is that both the Giants and Mets see the leg injury as something that makes such a long-term deal untenable. Less money might do it, but more likely, fewer years, like four or five, unless it's a real red-flag issue such as an injury that can go mega at any moment.

Sometimes the best move is not to play the game. In this case the best move is not to sign this player. There are a lot of players in MLB and even more over the next 13 years. Why take on unnecessary risk? Don't be a trapped by the moment. My hope the Mets skip him. The vibes I'm feeling about him are not good. Let's not act like other teams that make bad decisions by acting desperate in 1 off season as if there are no other offseason to come. Mets need to save the $ for Ohtani next off season.

Mets might have to deal with the Union if they definitely back out of the deal without a mutual resolution. Especially since the owner of the Mets was so vocal. Correa is such a great player and like-able guy, but that type of contract will be debilitating to any franchise if Correa misses substantial time to injury during the life of the contract. The Astros offered Correa 5 years 160 for an average of 32 million a year. The Twins offered 3 years 105 million for an average of 35 million a year. The Twins then offered Correas demand for a super long term 10 year deal worth 285 million. So Carlos and his agent know it’s only a matter of time before Correa’s production falls substantially. Honestly, Correa probably only has 3-5 good years in him. Doctors know these fractures very well, and they know the leg may not hold for more than 5 years or whatever years they determined. Imagine being on the hook for 7 year of a lump of coal and needing to pay him 26-27 million a year.

All the Baseball ignorant that says he is not worthy of a contract don't know that Seager and Turner have played less games, missing more games than Correa and all of them started the same year (2015). Adding to that, Turner and Seager are players that becomes pure garbage when it matters the most. Especially Turner who is a .230 avg, 3 HR. 8 RBI, .281 OBP, .350 SLG, .606 OPS ans 101 OPS+ in 43 postseason games.

Well, 4 years at 25 mil per with incentives if he's on the active roster when the team wins (yes, wins) the world series. The incentive would double if the team repeats winning the world series. full no trade clause with only a team option and a hardwired qualifying offer in the final year. He's been in the majors for 8 years.. Never hit more than 26 HRs or 36 doubles in a season, averages just 1 triple a year. So its fair to say there's been some extra hype on this guy from the media over the years. I do like him though, I don't think he's a bad player. I've seen him get some nice hits in big moments. And his defense is great. But given how fragile he already is, that only gets worse with age not better, there's just no way he's gonna last 12 years he'll be washed up in half that time maybe sooner. Mets should just give him like 8-9 years no other team is gonna match that at this point in the offseason. Throw in opt outs for him after years 1 and 2 if he wants.

It doesn't have to be about restructuring the money they just need more protection in the contract. Maybe a team option after 6 or seven years but put more guarantee money or higher signing bonus for the first 7. If his leg gets worse he probably only can play everyday or so for maybe 6 more years. Who knows. Its always a gamble. Yankees are taking same chance on judge. He's been hurt alot before last year. Coincidently his contract year. So who's to say this year he might not go on injured list for something he played through last year. Hopefully he's a met next year. As a Yankee fan it would be great for the city. We have 7 star players between 2 teams. Top 20 at the very least. And for those who will say who? 1.Cole 2.Judge 3 sherzer 4 Verlander 5 Correa 6 Alonso 7 Lindor

Correa = 2024 allstar 1B. I doubt he ever plays SS again, unless emergency situations. He may play 3rd base, until he gets hurt and is forced to move to 1B, or maybe DH, but he’s only a decent DH. He could flourish at 1B though.

any deal past 6-7 years is outrageous.. player's usually don't live up to the high paying contract they get let alone multiple years... when production fails...the team ends eating the big contract.. multiple years is unrealistic considering injuries or personal battles..

Cheater, man of low moral character. He cheated in houston and then was the biggest mouth on that team defending their actions. Now he's trying to pull a fast one by saying he's physically fit to play for a ten year contract. He's a crook, man. He should go back to Puerto Rico to play if they'll have him.

Unless the union and Boras threaten to litigate because the Mets acknowledged the deal publicly, Correa is going to have to settle for a shorter deal. If he does stay healthy and productive, he could end up making more money over those 13 years though.

As baseball fans, we pay players exorbitant amounts of money in the form of ticket prices. It's easy to reject positive thoughts for greedy agents and players.

The Mets are in NO obligation to publicize any talks about restructuring. Given that Cohen might have jumped the gun with respect to Correa’s signing, I’m assuming that both camps are in talks at this moment. Almost certain he will eventually sign with NY, even if to save face.

Disappointing to see those slower sprint times.. making him a 4 tool player. He’s done great things on and off the field especially for Houstonians and Puerto Ricans. While medical advancements could help him it would definitely delay his career and lower his value. Being a taller player he is more susceptible to injury...most likely he is encountering the challenge of his career.
