The former Nissan-Renault chair Carlos Ghosn likened his arrest by Japanese prosecutors to Pearl Harbor as he spoke publicly for the first time since his audacious escape from the country. In an animated and lengthy press conference in Beirut, Ghosn blamed an elaborate conspiracy involving Nissan executives and Japanese prosecutors for his prosecution on charges of financial misconduct.

35:26 "I want to see my wife! ... I mean, the judge was surprised [that] I want to see my wife! Maybe for for a lot of ppl it's not a punishment not to see their wife, but for me it was!" Great punchline! Even if he was being sincere and didn't mea for it to be funny. What a guy!

After listening to Carlos Ghosn, could the Japanese prosecutors be bribed by Nissan? Saikawa has resigned from Nissan because of the same charge that they put on Carlos Ghosn. Why was not Saikawa arrested?

He had never lived in the Netherlands as his main residence between 2012 and 2018. In order to avoid French tax, he registered it in the Netherlands. On the other hand, as a "costcutter" he layed off thouthands of both Renault and Nissan blue-collar workers after making sure his money laundering technique had successfully been completed. Being rich(his estimated assets €350 million), he can get away with anything.

If other jail mates are treated the same, it's fair. Otherwise, he is asking "special treatment" only because?! He is also saying other people are breaking laws including prosecutors, so it shouldn't matter if he broke the law. He must be above the law...
@enanthate
@enanthate 4 жыл бұрын
Mikiko he is actually saying exactly the other way around, perhaps your interpretation was kinda off. He was NOT being treated the same, he was being treated differently, which is the reason he had to leave.

Yuka. Your statement is out of point. Ghosn's interview is strictly focusing on how and why he thought and felt his right to have fair trial was infringed by the Japanese public prosecutors.

All evidence and facts should be searched , adequately examined, properly judged on the court. But he suddenlly ran away . As sure he might rebuild Nissan, because he had fired over 20000 Nissan employees, and he earned several 10 billion dollars enough to pay for escaping from the court illegally.
