Wow! You are one of the few that refers to the rhythm being played by Santana by it's true origin, "Afro Cuban". Everyone else refers to it by calling it "Latin." It is Afro Cuban. rhythm fused with Rock.

@@pauloacedo7461 With respect, it seems you still missed it! By Carlos Santana's own description, the rhythms are from AFRICA! Central and Latin American countries have similar rhythms to be sure, but it's because of the AFRICAN CULTURE and PEOPLE that resides there!
@pauloacedo7461
@pauloacedo7461 3 жыл бұрын
@@tajjohnson6980 Ok.Also with total respect. I am brazilian and we have Samba wich was created in Brazil by the black people brought from Africa during the slavery period . Samba is not african, it's brazilian despite its origin from african people. Carlos Santana explained it this way to tell the roots of his music and to make it easier to understand for people not familiar with it. He plays central america music wich was also created by black people from Africa and as well as samba you will not find this music in Africa . His music has african roots mixed with local culture from central america countries.

A London-based Brit here, now aged 66. I wasn't at this concert but saw them the previous year at the 2-day forerunner to Glastonbury at Shepton Mallett 1970. First indoor concert was at the Rainbow on 15/11/73: my brother and I still rate that show as the best of ANY concert we have seen. Santana now - I lost count at 36 the number of times I have seen them live - is now a shadow of the great line-up then BUT still streets ahead of any other bands. For me: the band lost its soul when Chepito left, so sad but understandable in the circs, especially with the troubles he had later. Suggest anyone who loves THIS line-up to check out Abraxas Pool, which is pretty much this group minus Carlos, totally brilliant
@wotizit2937

I have checked out Abraxas Pool and don't think they are as good as the Santana III band or other Santana line-up. Imho, the source and essence of the Santana sound is Carlos so without him it will always be nothing but a pastiche.

First saw band live in October 1971 at MSG in NYC. Seen Carlos and various lineups some 35 times since then. Never a disappointing show. Santana live is music magic. Unlike any other band I've had the good fortune to capture live. Santana's music and sound simply transcend all the boundaries of mind, spirit and soul. Timeless.

I support him in every effort he makes. His top 40 run was epic too (yes, I prefer the early 70s) but if he didn't make superstar money the last 20 years, that would be less money pumped into Milagro foundation. The man is a God and I love EVERY SINGLE THING HE DOES. Carlos, if you ever read this, you are like Gandi, like Malala, like Greta Thunberg, like MLK.... people like you are why this world is great and will always have hope in the face of considerable darkness.
