I worked on Ozy's Black Women Own the Conversation crew and got to have a few great conversations with Carlos while there. I can't speak to what's happening to his company in the moment but what I can say is during the taping of that show 90% of that crew was BLACK. Nearly All the Camera Operators were Black Women. The environment was warm and everyone had a voice to contribute in that space. In my opinion Carlos did a really good job of moderating tough topics especially being the only male host in a room with over 100 black women. He was as candid with each person on the crew/cast as he was in this interview and was very approachable which isn't the norm with Execs / Hosts in our field. It's a tough moment but hopefully they can clear the doubt and come back to do more good work.

I was confused by the questions at first but when CTG said he's an investor, it made sense. I get it. What I dont like is somebody acting like just because a black person owns a company they can't make content for white people. We need to get all that money. What you mean? That was courage on full display. If nothing else, Carlos deserves full credit and kudos for that. Sending him healing energy bc he is going through it. Facing the furies is never easy. Now for some thoughts: 1. BFC did a great job asking the tough questions while trying to elucidate a balanced perspective. Any other approach would have been counterproductive as would have undermined both parties' credibility. 2. As the face & founder of Ozy, Carlos' personal took a big hit over the last week, and I believe this interview and other interviews will help stop the bleeding. He needs to m 3. This is not the time for "black media" (e.g. Roland Martin) to publically "take their pound of flesh" bc Carlos'/Ozy's hasn't historically been "black enough" to them. Rather, use this opportunity to support and build with the brother, even if it's in private. 4. For those juxtaposing CTG's approach with Karen Civil vs. Carlos Watson, I say that: i) CTG caveated his discussion about Karen by saying that he has never done business with KC, and that he only knows her as a friend. In this case, CTG flagged that he was an investor in Ozy thus better positioned to interrogate the allegations; and ii) CTG was talking to Carlos directly, whereas he has yet to publically have an apples-to-apples conversation with Karen

He should have talked to Byron Allen. They could have done deals together and kept it black owned. That might have saved him some trouble, especially if that Buzzfeed assertion he's making is true. It would have been nice to see those two (Allen and Watson) work together.

I’m not tryna be funny but I’ve never heard of Ozy Media. But I have heard of Roland Martin and been rocking with him for years. Roland is my go to but it’s not to say multiple sources can’t exist in the same space. I hope Carlos keeps his word and collaborates.
