I was born February 1958. I am so thankful I grew up listening to Carley. She is so talented and magical when she sings. She draws you in and brings out the true emotion of love. She is my best singer and artist. If there is anyone who can move a heart it is the beautiful Carley Simon!! You are the best Carley and you are loved greatly.

I met her and James Taylor when there daughter graduated high school. I was doing a detail and was blown away how nice and down to earth. I said I’m a big fan of both of you Mrs Simon and Mr Taylor. She said I’m Carly, he said I’m James. They said your so young, it makes us feel young when your generation is a fan of our music and it’s a pleasure to meet you officer, I said I’m Jeff. They both smiled, shook my hand and went on there way.

Your so vain Carly Simon: My first Love at13 years old I played this song to my Lover. at a bus station in Portland, Oregon. You got 5 songs for a quarter on a juke Box. My heart got broken. That was in 1972. I'm now 64 and this song is so important to me. Thank you Carly Simon, Your one of the best, ever...

The record version is so evocative because of her youth, even if this performance is better. It's a sad song and as time heals all wounds this performance has a maturity and lost a bit of the clarity or currency it once had. I could say the same for Carole King with I Can Feel the Earth. It seems the currency has gone out of the song with passing decades and with it the freshness - for me at least.

I also remember when she lived in Riverdale and went to the Riverdale Country School. I had started at the school in my sophomore year. They wanted my voice, not my grades ( Russel Ames was director of admissions). Every Friday evening Russ Ames led practice for the “Small Chorus”. We practiced classical music like the Fourey Requiem. It was a time when the boys school and girls school were separated but for this chorus we were together. I was a tenor and there was this beautiful strong alto. After some of the rehearsals we would go to the Simon home to play pool or just talk. It was a special time of youth when how well you sang was so important. For school assemblies Carley and I would do duets. I will never forget her rich deep alto voice. We were young, our lives ahead of us. She went on to the music world and I went on to the academic world, but at the time Russ Ames unified us into a wonderful chorus of around 12 singers gathered around this really talented leader Russel Ames. I just heard that he died but his music guidance is passed on to the generations he taught the love of music to, both pop and classical. May he Rest In Peace!

Carly's voice is like warm sunshine on the face, it just feels right. Her and Karen carpenter, my 2 favorite female voices. Carly just had that smile that made you feel good and add her music, well there's a winning combo for you. I saw her at a free concert in Grand Central NYC and man was she great!

How great it is to hear great songs played by musicians who play the song not trying to show off their chops. They make the song breathe. As a musician who's played quite a bit in recording studios nationwide, there's no greater high than when you hit that zone where you can not only feel the song breathing, you can see it breathing. These players are excellent .

After all these years... I still love Carly Simon. Never met her, but wish I could. Everything I've ever read or heard... she is a special kind of person. Beautiful - inside and out, and not the norm for the "celebrity: crowd. This was a wonderful performance. But then.... it's Carly Simon. She's awesome.

Love Carly Simon! This song is especially a favorite, as I live in Nova Scotia, born and raised...and yes, sat outside on the lawn with my best friend, we were 15, and watched the "total eclipse of the Sun". July 10th, 1972. Now it's 2024, and I will be watching the total eclipse of the Sun, with my 15 year old grandaughter, and her two 15 year old best friends. Awesome memories from the Summer of 72' are so fun to remember. It was a Fabulous Summer! Cheers, from Halifax, Nova Scotia. 💕

I remember this song. They put this song on the newscast for after the April 8th eclipse in Wpg MB. It showed a very young Carly Simon singing this song with pretty close to the exact lyrics to match up with our literal eclipse today. Thank you Carly good timing! 👍

I first heard this song on K-RTH ("kay earth") 101 in Los Angeles when I was in fifth grade (or so, in the 80s). I was asleep and the song played on that station and somehow got into my dream. I spent years trying to find out the title and finally found it (pre-internet). I spent months with a cassette tape ready to get record it from the radio. Good times, those 80's. I think her older, raspy voice enhances this song. It's one of my all-time favorites.
