Carmarthen Fans, Brecon Beacons - 14 May 2014

10 жыл бұрынA 13 mile round trip from A4067 (grid ref SN850172) to the Carmarthen Fans. The route follows the Brecons Way initially heading north along the base of the Fan Hir ridge to Llyn y Fan Fawr below Fan Brycheiniog. From here the route continues to follow the base of the ridge around Fan Foel towards the stunning scenery that surrounds Llyn y Fan Fach -- the Magic Lake. From here the route climbs to the west end of the Bannau Sir Gaer ridge. Returning along this ridge passing the peaks of Bannau Sir Gaer, Picws Du, Fan Foel and Fan Brycheiniog.

It a great area and appears quite a bit on the film Stardust!!! The previous year I tried walking it in far wetter weather but was very lucky last year. atb

Yes, that's where I started from the previous year. Feels like your driving to no where, there when you start walking it appears!!! Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it!!! atb

Cheers, glad you liked it. The pole is just a "cheaper" version of the go pro one. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00F5NV074/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's a lot cheaper than the £30 go pro one. Hope that helps

Amazing video !!.The Carmarthen Fans have been on my wish list for some time - did you follow any particular route ? I'm planning to do it tomorrow if the weather is good. Cheers Jon.

Yeah Jon, The rough route is in the description. Started from the A4067, parked at an old disused pub's car park (Tafarn-y-Garreg). It's a bit of a walk in but worth it! Country Walking printed the route in Aug 2008, can be found on Trailzilla, it's called Powys - Black Mountain. Hope that helps. It's a fairly simple route from the start. Follow the base of the ridge, return following the top of the ridge. Perfect in good weather. Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks Gary - I've got the Country Walking route from earlier this year. Looking forward to doing it - the views look amazing from the video! Looks like you had a good few days in Wales - I live in in Pembrokeshire so it's not too far away.

I first did it last year in a bit of a downpour but yes, if you get the weather for it. It's a brilliant walk!!!

Brecon Beacons was on my original walking list when I visited UK last year, but was dropped because it was out of the way (didn't make it to Wales). Thanks for sharing. The wide open big country is best walked in a weather like this. Big country? Wow I think I just came up with a music suggestion ;-) What's the name of the photo effect you use often here? I noticed it can even be used on video such as 10:45. Is it in Windows Movie Maker?

Yeah, it's hard to fit everything into a trip over. We may be small be we're very varied within it. Hehehe, Big Country.... I think you'll find Big Country on my Ben Nevis (via CMD Arete) video. Not sure if it blocked in some countries though! The other effect is "Impressive Art". It's on my camera. Basically any of the effects can be used on video I think. Might have to add a bit "Miniature Effect" video to see what it looks like next time!!!

***** The effects on your camera... you mean iSAW? or Panasonic? Hmmm I don't think I have these on my GoPro.

On my Panasonic Camera, thats why it seemed a bit "zoomed" in, my normal camera has a smaller wide angle view
