Sun asking Michael for help - in English - is another mind-blowing WHAT? moment in the show.

Trivia: Yunjin Kim, who plays Sun was fluent in Korean, but Daniel Dae Kim was not. He had to be coached and practiced his Korean in order to sound fluent and believable as a native speaker.

Actually it became popular in Korea to mock how bad his Korean weas.

Locke first realized it, but it's interesting how the Island is not just a place, but has now become a character all its own.

I've always hated that saying "that setting is a character in itself" but with Lost I make an exception.

Loving these reactions of someone who went into Lost completely blind, which I've never seen before. All reacters I've seen on here know the basic premise of the show. Some interesting early takes on the core Losties too. Always loved the way the show introduces characters and their backstories through flashbacks. Would love to see you up these videos to two a week (maybe when Last Of Us is done with) if possible. You have SO much incredible TV to come with Lost. We're just scratching the surface with Season 1....

Great episode! One of my favorite things about LOST is that almost every single small detail matters to the greater story. Keep on loving the ride!! 🤩

This is just a character analysis on Charlie whenever he puts that hood over face its like security blanket to him when he's using. Also its used to hide whatever pain he's feeling. This Island seems to be a character in itself also seems like in spite of whatever the circumstances that led them to the oceanic 815 to begin with, these people can start over on the Island. As jJack puts it it doesn't matter who they were before. Everyone gets a clean slate.

I never understood why 'moving to the caves' turned into such a drama. There was nothing stopping them from having a group stay at the beach to keep the signal fire going while everyone else setup shop at the caves, which is essentially what we end up with here. They could take shifts and change out every 23 hours. Or even every 4 to 8 days or whatever. Just keep a group of 15 or 16 people at the beach monitoring the fire. It's not like they are trying to figure out the meaning of life or something...which is 42 for all you Hitchhikers out there.
@buddystewart2020Ай бұрын
That's what I thought the very first time I watched this, but writers being who they are, conflict is king, so for them, and the show, it makes sense to have two groups, sort of.
@loco_logicАй бұрын
Yeah it always seemed like such a trivial conflict. Drama for the sake of drama.

Maybe because the round trip between the beach and the caves take more than 108 minutes. It is far away.

So, it seemed like (from the pilot episode), you didn't really understand Sayid's background. He said he was with the "Republican Guard" which was the Iraqi army during the Gulf War. I have more to add but I don't want to spoil anything :)

As far as the two camps, one wanting to relocate to the caves, one wanting to stay on the beach. The first time I saw this, my thought was...wait a minute, you have 46 people. Can't you set up a schedule where say, three people go to the beach for a specific amount of time to keep the signal fire going and watch for aircraft, ships, etc. while everybody hunkers down at the caves. You have plenty of people to swap them out so you spend some time at the caves and a shift at the beach. But, writers being writers, conflict is king, so it makes sense from a writer/show perspective, to have two different camps. I think it's reasonable, from what they've shown us so far, to suspect that working for her father, caused the problem between Sun and her husband. Dude comes home covered in blood, he wasn't just staying late going over spreadsheets. I think it's also reasonable to think that Kate has trouble getting too close to people, for whatever reason. Jack seems to be the practical logic guy, Locke seems to be the philosopher faith guy, the Shaman of the island maybe. I never once thought Sun and Michael might hook up, but I've seen lots of reactions to the show where people did.

Carmen, if you ever decide to ship Sun-Hwa ( Paik ) & Jin-Soo ( Gin ) Kwon their ship name is Sin. On another note Jack & Kate's is Jate. This episode takes place on day of 7 after the crash of Oceanic Flight #815.
