Claire goes into labor while a helpless Charlie goes into panic mode. Meanwhile Locke is missing, Jack tends to a wounded Boone and Sayid presents Shannon with a romantic surprise.
The survivors of a plane crash are forced to work together in order to survive on a seemingly deserted tropical island.
Lost is an American science fiction adventure drama television series created by Jeffrey Lieber, J. J. Abrams, and Damon Lindelof that aired on ABC from September 22, 2004, to May 23, 2010, over six seasons and 121 episodes. It contains elements of supernatural fiction, and follows the survivors of a commercial jet airliner flying between Sydney and Los Angeles, after the plane crashes on a mysterious island somewhere in the South Pacific Ocean. Episodes typically feature a primary storyline set on the island, augmented by flashback or flashforward sequences which provide additional insight into the involved characters.
Lindelof and Carlton Cuse served as showrunners and are executive producers along with Abrams and Bryan Burk. Inspired by the 2000 Tom Hanks film Cast Away,[1] the show is told in a heavily serialized manner. Due to its large ensemble cast and the cost of filming primarily on location in Oahu, Hawaii, the series was one of the most expensive on television, with the pilot alone costing over $14 million.[2] The fictional universe and mythology of Lost were expanded upon by a number of related media-most importantly a series of mini-episodes called Missing Pieces; and a 12-minute epilogue, "The New Man in Charge".
Lost has regularly been ranked by critics as one of the greatest television series of all time.[3][4][5] The first season had an estimated average of 16 million viewers per episode on ABC.[6] During its sixth and final season, the show averaged over 11 million U.S. viewers per episode. Lost was the recipient of hundreds of industry award nominations throughout its run and won numerous of these awards, including the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series in 2005,[7] Best American Import at the British Academy Television Awards in 2005, the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series - Drama in 2006, and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

After 20 years and repeated viewings, this episode still brings me to tears. Its because the writing and acting are so good that a viewer is always immersed in the lives of these fictional characters. BTW Rose earlier told Jack "I'm letting you off the hook" in regards to his promise to keep her company while her husband was in the plane's bathroom. Similarly, Boone let Jack "off the hook" in regards to Jack's promise to keep him alive.

I actually have a theory here. And it might contain minor spoilers. But this is totally all just speculation. Even knowing the full show won't enable someone to determine whether or not my theory is true..... But anyway: That last dialogue where Boone asks Jack to let him go.... I don't think that was Boone. 😅 I think that was the Island talking.... Boone was so far gone. I don't think he could have regained consciousness just like that. And then even on top of that have a kind of clear minded conversation. I like to believe in this mystical part of the Island, like Locke. And we don't have to confirm nor deny if any clues or hints towards my thesis having more or less ground will still appear in the show in the future or not. In the end it's just a stupid, romantic, mystical theory....

Does the way Jack clears Boone's lungs in the beginning kind of remind us of when Boone, the lifeguard, after the crash suggests getting a pen to do a similar cut through smb else's airways? The irony, the predestination of it all, maybe.

I'm so glad you mentioned the 'asking Sawyer nicely' thing.. a lot of people don't seem to pick up on it. When Kate runs up to him and just says "I need this!" He doesn't argue at all, he can tell by the look on her face that this is a REAL 'need', and even offers to help - Everyone just calls Sayer an A-hole, but if you give him a chance, there's a good guy in there too. I fully believe that if he had the inhaler (Back in the torture episode), he would have given it to them if they'd actually asked. He's a more complex version of the usual 'scoundrel with a heart of gold', and I love the way they grow his character through the series (With a few unfortunate setbacks I won't go into until they happen)

Jack's dad delivers confusing advice yet again 🤔 Imo, the 'not good at letting go' part is his way of advising against marrying Sarah. Not surprised Jack doesn't know how to interpret the advice though. It's like the "when you fail...." conversation all over again. Very intense episode and a favourite of mine from this season ❤

I believe they planned on killing Boone the entire time, or at least for a long while since early on they said a major death was going to happen; ironically in a behind-the-scenes video, the actor that plays Boone is the one that comments on it and says how the actors are nervous about who it's going to be. Also...try to keep in mind this show will sometimes show you something to create a certain reaction, but then later show you something else to give you certain perspective or re-contextualize it; for example, the flashback where Sun sees Jin come back covered in blood, vs. Jin's flashback ep of the same scene.

The writers DEFINITELY wanted to kill off characters to up the stakes in a show about a group of survivors living on a very dangerous island. The very original plan was to have the monster kill Jack in the very first episode -- and Kate was going to be the main character. But they were talked out of it.

Getting into a bit of spoilers for the next episode, but even so many years after watching, I still remember exactly _why_ Jack was so angry at Locke. Spoiler for the next episode: . . . . Locke didn't know this (not being a doctor), but what he told Jack (that Boone fell off a cliff) implies a totally different type of injury than what actually happened (IIRC, Boone's leg was crushed). So that whole time, Jack was treating Boone based on bad information. That's why he feels Locke "murdered" Boone... he may believe he did it intentionally, or he may understand that Locke wasn't actually trying to kill Boone, but the end result is the same; because of what Locke said, Jack didn't apply the right treatments, and Boone died.
@letsrock1729
@letsrock1729 5 ай бұрын
@@Katerine459 Even if Jack had made decisions based on what had REALLY happened, pretty sure Boone would have died anyway. He was in a terrible state and the medical 'facilities' were very basic, to say the least. There's no way Jack isn't aware of this. He's in denial...telling himself he could have saved Boone if only he'd had all the information. This is all about Jack not being able to face failure (because he doesn't have what it takes to fail)...he needs to find someone to blame for the fact that he couldn't save Boone. And Locke is the obvious choice under the circumstances.

Boone wasn't a main character. Also, Locke didn't send him to that plane for drugs. 1:57 Your rant about Locke might should've been put off until you have more info. Also, Boone volunteered to help. One of the clear theme of the show is that these people are flawed, all of them in different ways but here you are, being on the defensive, Locke can do no wrong in your eyes. He lied and left, and i agree that telling the truth would likely not have saved Boone under these circumstances, that still not give him absolution. And Lexi has stated multiple times how much she likes Locke as a character, it will be interesting to see how she feels about him going forward.
@Eowyn187

@@olajuwon-34 no not really. I'm talking about responsibility. And you people are codependent when it comes to your characters. Locke is responsible for plenty. But Boone is as well. That's all I'm saying. What I got defensive about, was her calling him a little bitch. And NOT holding her dear Boone responsible for anything. So, check yourself before you speak on me. Everything you said here was inaccurate.
@p-forest
@p-forest 5 ай бұрын
@@Eowyn187 Agreed, we hear Locke shouting at him for a while to get out of the plane, but Boone ignores him to try to use the radio; which is consistent with his character, always trying to be helpful (from literally day 1 of the crash) but he messed it up every time (incorrectly given Rose CPR, then going to find pens for 'the throat thing; falling asleep on guard; stealing the water; climbing up to the plane, and trying to keep using the radio to call for rescue etc.). I even suspect that's why his name is 'Boone,' a homonym for 'boon,' which can be something useful. He failed in that in everything we saw him try...except, arguably, in death, if you think about it leading to Locke pounding on that hatch and the series of events related to that. For those that have seen the show...if Boone doesn't fall, then Locke never pounds on the hatch...think about what else that implies.

@@irerancincpkc I understand that. I personally love him, in the same way that I love my close friends, despite their flaws. The characters are so well written that we all bring our own life experiences to the table when we 'engage' with them. Inevitably, a character's less-than-perfect traits (which they all have) will annoy some people, but not others. For example, Jack really irritates me for most of the show because, despite his good qualities, I just can't stand his stubbornness and his controlling behaviour...reminds me all too well of someone I know 😉
