Holden V8's have always had a tendency to pump too much oil to the top end. I couldn't tell you how many I've seen fill the rocker covers during a burnout, leak that oil out onto the hot exhaust manifolds and catch fire! No joke...

Scotty you only need one all out pass and it would've done a high 11. 120mph in a auto is a low 11. Then if the box lunched it's self you could of said you gave it ago but those launches were crap. If you spun off the line then i could understand but bogging it 3 times . Dude it wanted you to win

100% true, my falcon bf Ute has 2 years under its belt, daily driven towing my trailer to job sites with a blown head gasket. Hasn’t gotten any better or worse.

Very true. It should have 100's of thousands of subs. I don't know how accurate these figures are these days, but they usually sell around 350000 copies of the mag each month, why aren't all these people subs to the channel as well? I've been buying the mag since 1992 and became a sub as soon as the channel started

Agree, definitely good to check, roadkill had the same thing with the rotsun years ago, thought they had done a big end and was just flywheel bolts, loctite/thread lock is your friend!

@@HandDEngineering That was something all us apprentice mechanics got taught as 2nd or 3rd yrs. And I live by it still today, 19 odd years later. ALWAYS USE THREADLOCKER ON FLYWHEEL/FLEXPLATE BOLTS- Always

Typical Holden: Run 1: leaks oil all over the track Run 2: breaks down and catches fire Run 3: breaks down again before it even gets to the track Run 4: breaks again

It didn't actually leak oil on the track first pass, just a bit of trans fluid on the headers

Heathcote isn't ANDRA approved, so you can run piles of shit like the SM Territory easier. Notice Calder made them change the exhaust, at a minimum. One thing Scotty didn't mention is that drag meet was the AFF Drag Nationals, which is a fairly popular Ford event. Don't need VTs who can't fill a trans oiling the track down and losing an hour of time.

@ChrisHallett83 I'm from Perth too, but left when Ravenswood was still opperational- gives you an idea of how old I am, huh?!? Speaking of Heathcote, you guys should see how bad the return road is- you actually have to dodge the potholes the whole way down. I've got mates with big dollar cars that have had chunks of road that large get flung up by the front tyres that it dented the inner guard and cracked the paint! That being said, it's a great little track that will let you race your non- teched fast as fuck street car with no cage. It's awesome

Surprisingly little carnage considering, 2 drive shafts, one air filter and a (possible) engine/piston. They both put up a damn good show, especially the VT as no-one had a clue what was going to break next lol...

Track owner was right, there were many drivers that paid to race on a clean surface, they couldn't favor you guys ... even though, i was Prayin' they would let you run. Great work as usual guys, also i never had a flywheel come loose either.

That's because they come fitted with thread locker from factory and 99% of actual mechanics do the same... In the 19 years since I got my papers, I've never fitted flywheel/flexplate bolts without it- so I've NEVER had one come loose. Ever...

@@tortron Nope. If those straps break or come off (which they do) the car launches forward faster than you can hit the brake pedal. Have seen chassis dynos where the vehicle faces a brick wall, just in case.

Next episode...our $2K challenge becomes $20K as we rebuild the Falcon with a full Barra build from Maxx Performance, complete with the Greyhound bus shifter for those internet bonus points. 😁👍 Scotty, there's an old saying about never letting the apprentices play with the equipment without adequate supervision otherwise they break stuff as Kian just did...😉 But I will say this, we ALL knew Bubba was gonna break/blow up his stuff. 😂🤣

@@STREETMACHINETV I was impressed. 👍 350Kw all day from a SOHC and my only worry was that T5 but both of you worked it like champs. 💪 I'm now curious if the AU rods were different in the LPG models (ie. stronger), like they are for Barra's vs standard NA rods. 🤔

Broke my heart to see the Holden not get a proper run but that's why I switched to Ford years ago lol. the energy and comradery in this show is what makes it. I work/volunteer at a strip and have never seen anyone banned for a smallish oil down you don't want them but they happen at least he didn't oil the whole track

Even tho the Falcon ran slower times and possibly have ruined it's engine is say it's won, it may not have done a 12 like the commodore but it ran consistent 13s over multiply passes Not 12s, trans leak, broken CV, Broken CV 😂😂 You'd have to get a perfect launch and perfect shifts to beat the auto in a drag esp with similar power was good to watch none the less AU should win the hill climb, Far better suspension under it and the manual will come into its own here

The au engine isn’t done, check the flywheel bolts, sounds like the flywheel isn’t hanging onto the crank flange. Why don’t you grab an auto (from the taxi) and give it a run? At the moment the commodore has one run to its name with loads more upgrades.

The commodore should not take the win for the drag racing. The only time it didn't break down was on it's practice run. It got a DNF for every one of the competition runs.

Falcons flywheel has come loose. Standard issue when the tap limiter. Missed third. Hit limiter. Flywheel will be loose.

Love the show and the boys but would love to see a real honest $2K build where shit ain't borrowed or done on the cheap by people you know etc. Exactly how a normal person would go with $2K and give the everyday person an idea of what to expect. Never the less love the show. Holdens all the way and cant beat the sound of the 5ltr.

@@CloppingIsMyThing it’s the single cam older version of the Barra pretty much, everyone has their own opinion but my personal one is that stock for stock between a N/A intech and a N/A ba Barra, the intech is the better engine, handle a lot of abuse and will do 500000+ks without issue just normal daily driving
