Andrew Carnegie was a Scottish-American industrialist and philanthropist. Carnegie led the expansion of the American steel industry in the late 19th century and became one of the richest Americans in history. In the late 1800s the family would come to own an island on the southern coast of Georgia building many homes for the family the greatest being Dungeness.

So sad to see this once beautiful home reduced to ruins! I am sure many happy memories were made here by the family. It was lovely to see the horses grazing on the property.

@@UrbanEyeAbandoned I'm friends with some Carnegie descendents. Stayed on Cumberland back in the mid 70s before the park service really took over.What a place!Except for the history of being slaveowners that is.
