Carnivore MD Now ADMITS The Carnivore Diet Wrecked His Health

The “Carnivore MD” (Paul Saladino) who wrote the Carnivore Code is now saying that this strict carnivore diet is probably not healthy for most humans in the long term.
In a podcast interview with More Plates More Dates, he openly talks about how a strict carnivore diet actually had many negative impacts on his health, which is why he no longer calls himself the 'Carnivore MD' and also eats more fruit, maple syrup and raw dairy,
For a long time, myself, and many other people have voiced our concerns when it comes to carnivore proponents.
Just like every other diet, you will ALWAYS find a small subset of people who turn that diet into a cult-like following and suddenly pretend it is the best thing in the world.
Apparently, this carnivore diet was the “SECRET” to “UNLOCKING OPTIMAL HEALTH”, but just 4 years later it is now “probably not healthy for most humans”. This also means that he had been eating the carnivore diet for just two years before writing about it in the Carnivore Code. Tens of thousands, maybe even hundreds of thousands of people bought a carnivore book based on his own experience of less than two years.
I honestly love people admitting mistakes publicly. I think it’s very important to be able to do so.
But, I think it’s also ok to point out that it is a bit worrying when someone flip flops so massively on what they were previously saying.
Before carnivore proponents get their feathers ruffled, I DO NOT CARE what diet plan you want to follow.
If you feel better eating a certain way, awesome. All the power to you.
But we should all agree that people promoting heavily biased information is not a net positive to help other people learn.
All I have ever asked for is for people to talk about the pros and cons of different diets honestly.
That shouldn’t be a lot to ask?
P.S. At the end of each post, I remind you that my best-selling book, ‘Everything Fat Loss’ is currently on sale as an audiobook, plus digital/print versions from Barnes and Noble, Apple, Kobo, Google, and Amazon with an extra 16% off in the US. Please feel free to grab it before the price goes up.

Him switching his view and sharing it is the most unbiased thing he could have done. Also, your forgetting to mention the only thing he has added to his animal foods is fruit and honey which are the lowest plant foods on the plant defense chemical spectrum. I respect his change, better that strongly convincing himself that all of those problems noticed were not a problem.

One thing I wonder. I don’t follow him publicly (a lot of people send me his posts asking if what he is saying is true lol) but did he ever post about this himself? Did he ever talk about the dangers of the carnivore diet to his own followers, and why being too restrictive can cause issues? Or did he just softly talk about it on a podcast and change his message to include more other foods (fruits, maple syrup, dairy) and save face with his own followers who may have been strict carnivore? 🤷‍♂️

I'm pretty sure that he meant the diet isn't good long term. Heal your things and then get to a more balanced diet. I don't think the diet itself is healing anything. Any diet that reduces down to one food or a few nutritious foods from one group and cuts out all processed foods and crap foods and keeps your insulin low will give your body a chance to heal itself. It doesn't mean that sticking strictly to that one food for the rest of your life won't cause problems down the line. Too much of anything is bad for you

It seems the best diet would be avoiding anything come in packets or branded. Having food in moderation. Also adjust according to ur body...For instance if u r lactose or gluten intolerant adjust your diet. Btw, I'm into carnivore for the past 3 weeks for candida, joint pains and chronic sinusitis. I thought candida might starve and eliminated because of lack of carb but no sign of them dyingg. May be they have also started carnivore😀. No more Sinusitis headaches and dripping. Tennis elbow pain has gone. Now there is only a light pain while doing bicep curl(10kg). Mcl pain is completely gone. I might just do one more week and stop. Its not sustainable.

Just because he changed his mind personally, doesn't mean somehow the thousands of people this diet helped are somehow false or didn't happen. We've watched years of testimonies of the diet fixing all sorts of problems in people. All I can really say is that if it's not sustainable, those people who lived this way for a time will some day hit these symptoms (or others) and it will be time to transition some more food into their diet safely.

Many people report positive results on the carnivore diet. Unfortunately many also report negative results, but these aren’t shouted from the rooftop by carnivore proponents as much. I know someone who went into carnivore groups on forums and social media pages just to see the results that people were talking about and was surprised by how many people were worried that they had noticed negative effects. If it was communicated as “this is very restrictive. I personally like it but be careful of X, Y and Z” I don’t think many people would take an issue with it. Instead it was sold as a secret way to unlock optimal health. 🙃😂

@@BenCarpenter I think your comment applies to every diet though. There is no diet where you can't find people complaining it didn't work for them. If we had a diet where all humans who used it reported that it fixed their issues and they lost weight, then we wouldn't have so many diets available to choose in the first place because we could all use it. So whether it's carnivore or keto or low carb or mediterranean or vegetarian or vegan or pescatarian or OMAD or IF or IIFYM, or extreme calorie reduction or every other day fasting or fat loss pills, fat absorbers, etc etc. Somebody somewhere is complaining how it hurt them. What is the perfect human diet? We still don't seem to know, since whatever people come up with still seems to hurt somebody somewhere.
@BenCarpenter
@BenCarpenter 2 ай бұрын
@@vigilantezackyes, I agree. And if anyone else sells one specific diet as “the secrets to unlocking optimal health” I would tell them that they are being too short sighted as well. In this instance, doing such a rapid flip flop so shortly after launching a book is an example of why people get too excited when they anecdotally notice good results. Good results won’t always last forever and won’t always apply to everyone else so we should be cautious when recommending one diet to all. 🙂

There's a bigger market for influencers who pander to those who refuse to eliminate plants from their diets. Also, there are consequences from your body eliminating the toxins built up from decades and lifetimes of crappy foods (plants). The nuances of detoxification are as of yet unstudied, and vary widely amongst individuals.

He probably wasn't eating enough fat, because he's a very active guy, and fat is your fuel, and because he doesn't have much fat on his body, he needs to feed on it more to have the fuel he needs to do everything he wants to do. People don't realize, when they go 0 carb, that if they don't eat enough fat, or have enough fat, they will run out of energy, and feel like crap. You aren't going to get very far running on fumes. @BenCarpenter He never said carnivore wrecked his health. He is still hypercarnivore by the very definition! He simply and correctly stated that long-term ketosis is not optimal. As carnivores, we should bump up insulin and naturally drop out of ketosis daily with a large single meal containing sufficient protein. Enough fat reserve and/or fat intake is also required for sufficient gluconeogenesis, or there is an energy and hormone crisis. Paul, as evidenced by his video catalogue, did not consume enough fat for his daily expenditure. Nuff said!
