Another possible factor that may lead to muscle cramping is insufficient insulin signalling. The kidneys require an insulin signal to retain electrolytes and prevent them from wasting. Eating a substantial amount of protein in one go should take care of this.

Thank you so much for suggesting boron to mitigate night cramps! Night leg/foot cramps have been a major issue for years, since keto, and now also on carnivore for past 3 months. No amount or brand of electolites I tried would do the trick. Stopping coffee didn't help either. There was a period of time for several months before carnivore that I didn't have cramps, but I couldn't identify what I had done different. Now that I think about it, it could have been a supplement I was taking then - Kirkland Triple Action Joint Health, which contains 5 mg. boron. I was up in the middle of last night with a cramp, and thought about that supplement. I had stopped most supplements when I started carnivore, but found I still had some of that one in my cupboard. I took one and went back to sleep with no more cramps through the night. I'm hoping that supplement will continue to work for me, as it is just a tiny capsule. Big blessings to you! Subscribing!

Thank you! Needed this so badly. I get knots of abs tying themselves into pretzels and attempting to escape my body. Tonight it just happened to me like ten times in quick succession, almost as soon as one subsided another would come on all over again! So painful. Inspired me to find this uniquely helpful video on the topic and I am going to follow your advice! Wish me luck that none of my muscles will manage to escape in the meantime!

Boron is an enabling mineral which allows the body to utilise magnesium, potassium, sodium and other electrolytes. The earth in many places is deficient in Boron and so the animals (and plants) we eat take up little Boron. If a human is too low in Boron no amount of magnesium and potassium will fix the problem. Obviously, cutting out all seed oils, sugars and carbs will also help with cramps.

Very important topic and I am glad you found a solution. In my experience with the cramping, (context, been carnivore 7 years). I think as carnivores we over do it with the activity because we don’t get sore. It’s true you can get positive results with these supplements but that quite an expense. Also, a good tip is to eat more on your workout days, your muscles need the nutrients and you will find the cramps don’t happen when you do that. Plus your money will be going to food instead of supplements. Lastly, electrolyte imbalances are what happens in re-feeding syndrome, so I doubt that’s the cause.

Yup I am experiencing muscle tremors, spasms that lead to cramping or at the least the threat of intense cramping. I am taking 15mg of Boron per day with no success. Yet some say that my daily decafe coffee might be doing this because it may deplete my minerals/electrolytes - so I up my electrolytes with not much success. Thanks for the resources.

For me it turned out to be I was salting my hamburger too much. I was loading up the salt and pepper thinking it was a good thing. Once I completely stopped the salt my leg and foot cramps went away within a couple days and never returned. Eating just plain unsalted hamburger is not that bad as I thought it would be. When I was getting cramps I was taking potassium and magnesium supplements that didn't work at all. So for my case it was just too much added salt.

@@bplusAgainwell it’s because potassium and sodium have to be in balance. And that balance varies from person to person. As a reverse example, doctors tell people to lower sodium to lower blood pressure, when most of the time they are just deficient in potassium.

Many years ago when I lifted weights heavily I took creatine and would get similar muscle cramps when I wasn't working out but still supplementing creatine, especially in my hamstrings. Now on carnivore I have cramps all over and it is the only downside of eating like this. Thinking that increased creatine from red meat may be the cause. I did hike through hills a week ago and surprisingly the next day I didn't have the daily cramping. I start back in the gym tomorrow and thinking this may solve the problem.

Most of it was a panic attack. They did my blood work and said everything was good. So, I will have to try the Keto stuff. We have been supplementing potassium and magnesium in our diets as well. But My muscle cramps in my neck and back have been affecting my hearing and some mobility. That's what freaked me out the most. But I was shocked when they said my blood work actually was really good. They said it was scoliosis which I've never been diagnosed with before. Yay being 31 Lol.

I truly suggest blood work and looking into boron to help you absorb the minerals you are taking in or the daily minerals from keto chow. I think when it comes to diets... There's definitely not a "one size fits all"... I hate it when the ppl say "this is the BEST DIET... The ONLY ONE that works...", "the ONLY ONE that's healthy", blah bla blah because I've been on a plant based diet for over a year, and then switched to a keto diet (which was ok), and now trying more carnivore, BUT in ALL the groups the ppl laugh at you if you're beginning and don't know much or ask "inappropriate questions", and they all say "MY DIET is the real stuff..." it seems to me that they're all some kind of cults because if you don't agree on something, they feel their EGO hurt and even ask you why you are in that group... So, I've seen ppl who defended their diet to death and after 5 - 8 yrs they switched to another kind of diet because they FINALLY CONFESSED they had not been feeling well... so, what they said or showed on TV or social media was just a MASK. Not everything was true and not everything was fine or easy. I do believe human beings will benefit from eating what their body needs, and that has to do with the microbiome, genetics, "race" or ethnicity, place where the person lives, and health issues the person has. If someone is on a diet that needs supplements to feel good... then, I don't think it's a PERFECT DIET. I do understand we all need to take supplements because today's foods are lacking of many minerals, vitamins, etc, but do we really need to be spending money on supplements every month? It would be better to try several diets and come to a personal conclusion based on a personal experience. Besides this... what if in the future the elite said "our farmers will not be allowed to have cattle anymore?" DID YOU KNOW THAT IT IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING RIGHT NOW in several countries in Europe, such as Spain??? The elite (which does mot care about us AT ALL) wants us to eat LAB MADE sh** and bugs because they want to control our food supply chains... So, if that's where they want to take us, because it's a REAL THING, what will we eat? As carnivores, you all should support those attorneys and experts who are trying to avoid this from happening, but I wonder if it would be a good idea to become so picky when it comes to food.
@robertsontribe

YOu definitely have some good points here. Thank you for sharing. I do it say the carnivore diet is the best and only diet and yes people can get cult-ish and very one sided. You won’t find that from me. I think everyone is very individual and everyone can handle different foods in different portions. 😊 As far as the “elites”…..I hear what you are saying and yes I see it. I will do my best to make the right decisions I need to for my family. I can only speak for myself but I am a deep believer in Jesus Christ, and If the world gets more crazy and we are all starving, I am going to just trust in Him and His plans for my life. I can’t worry about things that are ultimately out of my control. I can only pray and hope in God’s plan for my life and the lives of my family!
