To anyone confused: This is a reupload from an original version that was initially released on Halloween of 2023. I had to take that version down. I have fond memories of Carnosaur, my aunt was babysitting me at my grandparents house. She took me out to pick up pizza and let me rent a movie, I chose this one as I was into Jurassic Park at the time. Didn't get to finish the movie because parents came back sooner than expected.

I would love to have a reboot that is much more faithful to the original novel.

Corman's contributions to movies can not be understated. The man gave Robert Di Nero, Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, Ron Howard, Jack Nicholson, James Cameron, and tons more their first break in movies. They guy would take anyone to work for him no matter how fresh out of Berkley they were. It's mind blowing how important the guy who's motto was "Beast Boobs and Blood" was to the history of cinema.

Anyone wish there was a remake that is closer to the novel with some changes and a happy ending also you excited for dinosaur empire

I'm always down to re-watch a video about Carnosaur. If it wasn't for this video I wouldn't have found out that they finally reprinted the Carnosaur novel, which I had been trying to get for a non-insane price for years. Great book, and I really love the first 2 Carnosaur films as well.

Bro, thank you so much for making this. I've been fascinated with Carnosaur ever since I read about it in Dinosaurus magazine in 93 as a small kid (and saw it a few months later). These B-movies so seldom get the retrospectives they deserve.

This franchise is just insane ! Although there is a lot more going on behind the scene that first meets the eye.

It returns! Easily the best coverage of the franchise yet and I adore all of the behind the scenes insights.

Not gonna lie, a Carnosaur film more in line with the book could given us a thriller-horror movie in the vein of Jaws, maybe with a message about the horrors humanity brings on the world as well as animal exploitation.

Great work putting this together and look forward to part 2. I, like a lot of kids who grew up in the 90's, loved dinosaurs, especially JP (and even Carnosaur). Carnosaur was one of those movies you watched to get your dino fix, after seeing Jurassic Park a million times. That being said, had my parents seen what was in that film, they would not have let me watch it. I was such a dinosaur nerd that the creature designs looked to inaccurate. Now that I hear about the BTS, I realize that was a conscious choice by Corman. It sounds like it was a labor of love by most people working on it, besides Roger's business angle.

The original Carnosaur will always be my favorite of the Trilogy. My grandma got this for one of my birthdays when I was probably too young to see it, LOL!! (Traumatized me for the longest time!!) But that trauma turned into love and admiration for this fun, gore-soaked lil' horror movie!!

This movie DEFINITELY needs to be remastered. I always enjoyed it as a kid even when it scared the $hit out of me! I personally liked the second installment better even though it was an 'Aliens' rip-off but with DINOSAURS!!! Sidenote: please don't forget to re-upload your part 2 of the franchise. When I noticed both parts had vanished from my playlist I was like "NOOOOO! TF!?!" but saw your post saying you had to take them down and re-upload them again. This is the most comprehensive video I've ever seen regarding the Carnosaur franchise. You've done something that I thought no one would ever do. Honestly, the novel and the story behind the making of the film is more interesting than the film itself. Let me tell my own backstory on how I was introduced to the Carnosaur series and how it lead me to finally reading the novel. My introduction to the series was actually the second film, sometime around 1999 or 2000, on one of the premium channels (probably Cinemax). Even though it didn't have the big budget of Jurassic Park, and was an obvious rip-off of Aliens, I still had a good time watching it and wanted to see the first film. Eventually, around 2000/2001, I was able to pick up a copy of the first Carnosaur at my local Suncoast video store (remember that place?) and watched it soon afterwards. On my initial viewings of the film, I didn't like it that much. One of the things that ruined the film for me was when the women were literally laying dinosaur eggs. Even for a Roger Corman production, that was too campy for me to take the story seriously. But I will say this, Diane Ladd's performance was truly excellent. She was the best part of the film and didn't sleep walk through her lines. I also didn't like the ending, as I thought that the main lead was going to be victorious and save the girl and deliver the anti-virus. So, when he and the girl were killed off and the credits rolled, I thought "That's it?" I will say though, it was very creative to have the end credits scroll down whilst zooming into a burning picture of Alfred E. Neuman. Aside from that, what was most interesting to me was that the opening credits stated that Carnosaur was based on a novel by Harry Adam knight. Sometime after watching the film, I looked up a synopsis of the novel online and was shocked at how different it was from the film (taking place in the U.K., the main character was a journalist, etc.). So with that in mind, I had to read the novel. The only problem was that it had been out of print for years and was really hard to come by. It wouldn't be until 2017/2018 when I was finally able to buy a used copy of the novel for a good price on Amazon and was able to read it. Overall, I really enjoyed the novel and noticed some similarities to it and the Jurassic Park novel. In my opinion, Crichton's novel was the more well written of the two, but they both make a great double read. I actually consider the Carnosaur novel to be an un-intentional prototype to Jurassic park. A little piece of trivia: The final act of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, where the rest of the film takes place during an auction at a private mansion, loosely reminded me of the sequence at Penward's mansion in the Carnosaur novel. Maybe they took a little inspiration? Who knows? It's also coincidental that Clint Howard was in the Carnosaur film, while his niece, Bryce Dallas Howard, was in the Jurassic World films. I would love it if another filmmaker tried his or her hand at adapting the Carnosaur novel again, and make a more accurate adaptation this time. I would like it either as an animated or live-action BBC style miniseries (maybe get the animation studios who did the Castlevania series or the Star Wars Old Republic trailers to do it. Or, get the crew who made the live-action series, Primeval to do it). Over the years, I have also warmed up to the Corman version of Carnosaur (even the ending). The film's premise about a man made virus that brings back dinosaurs is unique and interesting in its own way and would still make for an entertaining film or miniseries, but the execution still has problems (other than Diane Ladd and the music). If I were to re-make the film's premise, I might do something like this: The story would be a miniseries split into three arcs. Arc 01 (Season 01) would focus on the plague and how it starts to reduce the human population. The women wouldn't give birth to dinosaur eggs, but to live young that are dinosaur/human hybrids. The inspiration for that comes from the late Paleontologist, Dr. Dale Russell, who theorized that had the dinosaurs not gone extinct, they would've evolved to look more humanoid. The second arc would focus on the aftermath of the plague, with the last pockets of humanity trying to survive as the new hybrids start to learn at an accelerated rate and begin to build their own civilization. The third and final arc would focus on the "New Order," where the hybrids have created a whole new society and have become the most intelligent and dominating life-forms on the planet. Admittedly, my idea takes a little inspiration from Planet of The Apes, and was thought of very quickly, but I at least tried to make it its own thing. Still, that's what I would've done and would like to see it get made one day (either as an animated project, or a live-action project). Let me know what you think about my comment and my ideas. Again, well done.

Someone somewhere needs to sort out a proper re-release of this, these movies are verging on being lost media at this point. Virtually out of print on DVD, with no HD blu ray ever produced and so far as I'm aware completely unavailable on streaming. It's not like they're cinematic masterpieces, but people still put hard work into these, and so few dino films even try to go the horror route that Carnosaur's still genuinely quite unique.

I kinda want to track down the Carnosaur book now.

I find it to be a legitimately good movie with some interesting ideas and some great foreshadowing and other cool stuff if you pay close attention. The sequels... exist I guess

When it comes to enjoyable bad films the Carnosaur trilogy is a great time overall the 2nd one is my favorite. I also recommend the book as well I read it in Grade 10 for my personal reading project in English Class

yeah, i remember watching this movie a while back, from the start i thought this movie was a B movie rip off of jurassic park so i expected to be in that similar nature of dinosaur action, what i was not expecting was the dino pregnancy stuff and how gory this movie was. this movie kind of traumatized me.

Carnosaur is hilarious, but it's not so bad it's good. It's a pretty trailer park quality decent film that's funny and rough around the edges, and in the bedroom.

As much as I want to check out the first Carnosaur movie, I feel that Roger Corman did the author of the original book dirty by appropriating his book's title without actually adapting the story (and then misleading the author into thinking he was going to actually contribute to the movie). hating a movie for being made to capitalize on another movie is dumb and I don't think we should tell them why most movies are made today.

I wanna ask Tiptree a very important question. She hates humanity because "They destroy the planet" but the dinosaurs were killed off by a natural phenomenon that they lacked the intelligence and ability to stop. See humans have the potential to stop things like giant asteroids striking the Earth, dinosaurs do not. Also does she not realize her dinosaurs will compete and most likely wipe out other native species causing massive environmental damage. That's kinda one issue I have with this film. The villain's logic and writing make zero sense.

I am not impressed the movie is far different from the book it is based on. There were dinosaurs than only t-rex, raptor, and deinonychus, the novel having more dinosaurs in comparison is really something.

Jurasic Park *did* use DNA fragments from fossil fragments. Its why he went to Alan Grant. Because he was already funding him and getting junk fossils from him. I dont remember if the mosquito amber was in the book but the fossil stuff was. The dna was also put into supercomputers and compared to modern animals. First lizards and such then birds. This isnt to say Michael stole the idea. Likely its just convergent ideas independently creating a trope. Like how else do you bring dinos back? It feels like the big difference between them is Chrichton wanted to make a scifi with a message. That message being that capitalism is bad for science and should be kept out of it.

Obviously Jurassic Park didn't rip off Carnosaur, it was a ripoff of Billy and the Clonosaurous.
