Exit Timing - You Got That Right! Still, "'Understated!!!'" I don't think there are words to describe Karen's "'Incredible!'", "'Awesome!!!'" Voice!!! Karen's Voice, Will "'ALWAYS BE!!!!!!'", "'IRREPLACEABLE!!!'" Now, mostly, there's just so much, electronic assisted 'junk', NOT Talent, Non-sense, in comparison! Carpenters, Truly, "R!", 'Innocent!', "Authentic!", "TRUE!!!" Musical ""'TALENT!!!'"" 😄👍😁👊😁😉👌😅

Aiden, this was 1971 & Karen at age 21. The continuous Touring & Studio demands resulted in her weight reaching over 145lbs & in 1974, Her Wardrobe, Makeup & hair Person made choices that actually accentuated her weight gains. By age 24 (1974) inclusive, Karen was already looking like late 30's. That's when she started her dieting regimes.

Karen looks so wonderful in this video. She has gorgeous long hair, a beautiful smile and a killer voice. Too bad she had such low self-esteem. She was one-of-a-kind. I was lucky to see her and Richard IN PERSON in the mid-1970's. Karen was a tiny little fireball at that time (didn't know she was so sick) and Richard was pretty much a "stiff" behind the piano. Clearly Karen had the personality, Richard knew music inside out!!

Noooo, this was c1971. Karen was in perfect health. Her dieting regime didn't begin until 1975, after she'd gained a considerable amount of weight in late 1973 & 1974. Looking back at her clips, she hated the way she looked!

+MR. SLADE Rhianna couldn't light a candle much less hold a candle to Karen and a plethora of other talented female artists from that period. I do think she possesses some talent but like so many young artists today is far too in love with herself for my taste. Many in her generation are what some would refer to as attention whores. Every entertainer seeks and loves attention but some of today's artists have taken attention seeking to a whole new level. This 'It's all about ME' and 'I'm Special' mentality saddens, annoys and bores me to know end.

I remember when this first aired back in '71. I remember thinking Karen was Babara Feldon from 'Get Smart'. And I had 2 Carps albums by this time. Anyway, what's really impressive here is actually how Carol learned this whole complicated musical arrangement and even managed to sprinkle in some comedy bits. We usually don't acknoweldge it, but while Carol Burnett was a great comedianne, she was also a fine singer --even tho' she always seemed to downplay it. Great harmonies; great musical timing.

She's lovely to hear but also cute to watch. I could bash my head against the wall; why did she had to die because of appearance pressures and low self-esteem! This girl had everything from voice to looks but also a great character. Those close to her, who actually mattered, seemed not to appreciate that. World can be such a cruel place. I'm from a completely different era, but honestly she's the only celebrity I have actually cried for and most likely the only one I will cry for. She's just mesmerizing.

WOW! I agree with every comment on this page 100%. This was that Golden age of Entertainment in the 1970's where it seemed that there was an embarrassment of riches in the talent department. Karen Carpenter is stunning and clearly having fun. Carol Burnett was an awesome triple threat comedienne, and Richard was a brilliant musician / composer / singer. This was a blast to watch, and makes me long for Karen to be with us again. Variety shows like this were the greatest. I guess Saturday Night Live is about the only one we have nowadays.
