I am totally with you on this! I've watched this video over and over again. Every time that I do, I can literally feel the moment when the Holy Spirit entered Carrie's body! Carrie was Heavenly Father's vessel for this song. It truly amazes me. 😇😇😇

Carrie is very vocal about her faith, so yes, she’s a believer. This event was a tribute to female artists in the country music industry, that’s why Martina, The Judds, Miranda Lambert (and Blake Shelton), as well as many other Country Music legends were there. I always love watching the reaction of her peers during this show, and I always love watching new reactors find it. Glad you’ve finally heard the power that is Carrie Underwood.

I remember seeing that live performance on TV. Vince and Carrie took the world on a journey and absolutely transported us with that performance. Carrie was worshipping the Lord - we were just given the privilege of witnessing that glorious vocal masterpiece. The Holy Spirit shone out of her so brightly it was mind-blowing! How she punctuated every verse with her arm and held those impossibly long notes - absolutely breathtaking! There will never be another performance of How Great Thou Art that will top that PERFECT performance. Carrie said in an interview after that toward the end, the Holy Spirit took over and she has no memory of finishing the song! That is evident if you watch her face with her eyes closed at the end! A musical masterpiece. I am SOOOOOOO grateful that you didn't pause - YOU GUYS are the ONLY reaction video I've watched that understood one doesn't STOP that performance mid-song! Carrie is a very well-known devout Christian! What you heard was her worshipping the Lord - one doesn't phone that in! Go back and watch - the audience gave her a standing ovation about half way through! The camera scales back to show it.

Third.. that is an awesome song by him.. tears.. I know y'all like good singers... and this is a recommendation to listen, not react as they aren't country. But Pentatonix: the live version of Hallelujah ( older song), Amazing Grace and their newest The Prayer.. I may just have to wince though.. I've seen them live, they are just as good.

Just found this two years later but I watched this county special show live when it was on TV and Carrie was supposed to sing with Martina and several other big country females in a skit later in the show but she strained her voice doing this song so in the skit, Carrie just stood with the ladies and they took their turns singing their part, Martina sung twice and sang Carries part for her. Not sure you can find that clip somewhere but I’m sure it’s out there. I still get emotional every time with this performance.

You guys just got a first time visitor to subscribe - if for NO other reason than that you DIDN’T stop it to comment, and you stated WHY you didn’t : “You just don’t (can’t?) stop that,” Bravo. I wish more reactors would think the way you do - at least where a performance like this one is concerned. You DO. NOT. STOP. that performance to CHAT. 👍🏻

This performance was more than just a song being sung; this was Carrie worshipping the First Love in her life: the Lord God Almighty!!! What you felt was God's Spirit entering into the performance. You were feeling the Holy Spirit of God touching us with His presence for her honoring/loving the Lord her Maker, and it was accented by her ability to sing with which God has gifted/blessed her. There are two other performances that I would recommend you listening/reacting to that very well could convey to you the presence and majesty of the Lord through gifted singing and a heart to worship. First would be Carrie, again, singing O Holy Night on the Jimmy Fallon show. Never have I heard more purity and clarity in a song's rendition as she gives. It is on par with this "How Great Thou Art!" The second recommendation would be Mark Lowry singing with Voctave his song of "Mary, Did You Know!" Other reactors to the Lowry/Voctave rendition have been left with the same reaction you two felt in this rendition of "How Great Thou Art." If you listen to all three of these and feel a similar tingle in the other two, consider that maybe God is trying to get you to recognize His reality and that He might be wanting your attention so as to enrich your lives. If you have any notion that this might be the case, then go back and listen to the rest of your chatter and other topics of discussion, beyond your words expressing your "awe" of Carrie's performance, . If God was reaching out and if He is holy and has a heart to love, do you think he appreciated the greater portion of this video beyond your immediate reaction to Carrie's heartfelt performance? Just a thought to consider - seeing and hearing that you were touched to your core by something that felt awesome. In hopes that some day you can join in with Carrie singing this song with equal depth and richness, even though none of us could ever match her excellence!!

You guys need to try Carrie's Drinking Alone. It has a bluesy, speakeasy vibe and she sings it beautifully. You won't regret it.
