This is incredible. This was the last time Carroll and Jean would be together. Carroll passed away the following year. I adored him. I thought he was the greatest actor in the world. If anyone has never watched All In the Family, it was probably the funniest, best written, well acted sitcoms of all time! Thumbs up to them and to Donny & Marie for making this very special reunion possible.

One of the finest and most deeply moving moments ever on TV was the scene where Archie came back home after Edith's funeral, found one of her slippers on the floor in their bedroom, and broke down crying as he cradled it in his hands and remembered her and how much he loved her. A remarkable bit of acting from Carroll O'Connor.

They made their characters believable and Carroll was a lifelong liberal so for him to play Archie like he did so convincing proved how great an actor he truly was. Me and my younger brothers watched it also , but didn't get all the material back then. I was 6 when it aired and 13 when it ended. Then i saw all the episodes when it was in syndication in the 80's and totally understood why my father thought it was so funny. It's probably the greatest sitcom ever written in TV history , other than maybe MASH in my opinion!

I have been thinking about where have we gone wrong… what are our children watching on tv. I watched and fell asleep to an entire season of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood last night. I grew up in the 70s. I remember watching All In The Family on a black and white TV with rabbit ears, and I was the remote. I think there may have been 6-10 stations. What a show. It really places me back onto that 60/70s green carpet, smoke filled room, great grand parents, grandparents, great aunts and uncles all watching All In The Family after we ate dinner as a family. I know their time was short, but there could have also been mention of Carroll's role in Kelly's Heroes and Jean's role in You've Got Mail. Rip, Carroll and Jean. Those WERE the days!

Am absolutely delightful interview! The two stars are fabulous. But I also can add the two Osmonds, interviewing, are the cat's meow! I can't think of any hosts who are so outstanding---lovely people and they create such interesting, lively interviews, bringing out the best in their guests.

I saw Stapleton refuse to do the Edith voice in another interview. She gave the same excuse. I think the real reason is she didn’t want people to think that she was a “ding bat” in real life. She probably got asked to do that voice every time she met someone for the first time. She wanted to be respected for the real woman she was. I don’t think she realizes how much we all loved and respected “Edith” and most of us would have loved to have a mother, grandmother, sister or aunt like Edith Bunker

I think it might be more than tha. I have seen other actors that refuse to do their TV voices. I wonder if that's some type of actors code that you're not supposed to break?

@@Tessmage_Tessera That could be, I've seen interviews with Seth MacFarlane where he's asked to do whichever voice. Usually he will. But you can tell sometimes he's a little annoyed. There's at least one where he quipped "(sigh...) I am a barking seal".
