Some people have asked - How do you carry a speed loader for my carry revolver. Here I show you some items I use to carry a speed loader on my belt.

95% of the time in the colder months i carry a gp100 7 shot and 2 speed loaders. A lobo enhanced pancake and a double speed loader pouch also from Lobo but coincidentally today I’m carrying a p320x compact plastic fantastic with a red dot hahaha. Only cause I like to switch it up every now and again

Nothing wrong with plastic fantastic. Hell 'behind the scenes' I am still shooting my Glocks and also using a red dot optic. I know this set up is probably a little more practical then a revolver but I still love the revolver platform and choose to carry one. Who knows, maybe I should show some plastic with red dots soon. Its just that if you see one Glock you have seen them all...

I don’t know anyone who shakes their s/l like that? The loose rounds provide ease of insertion into the cylinder chambers. HKS has some of their loaders with looser rounds too. The quality and security of 5 star loaders is exceptional. If you doubt this, a simple test, take any push loader and drop it from 6 feet and then take a twist loader like an HKS or a 5 star. The push loader will often fail, while the twist loaders will not. Back when we had revolvers my agency authorized HKS not Safariland just for that reason. 🇺🇸👮🏻‍♂️👍🏻

After years of carrying speedloaders on duty while the departmental issue was the S&W Model 15 Combat Masterpiece. We transitioned to a semi-auto duty carry in the early 90's, and years later I added a 442-1 in 1997 as a backup and EDC CCW. I still carry my 442-1 and all my revolvers now with Bianchi speed strips. I can reload very efficiently and quickly with the speed strips and they carry easily is a pocket.

My brother got an sw model 15 and it hs to be one of the best revolvers ive ever shot, very smooth trigger and hammer pull not too heavy while being good on recoil and the release for the cylinder in a much more comfortable place for someone with massive hands that make a g17 feel like a g19

The Comp 1 has been my favorite since the early 1980s. They are small enough that back then I had a speed loader pouch that accommodated four Comp 1s in a relatively small and compact space. Even today, I use the Comp1 with my S&W 442. I find that speed strips (Bianchi only) are a reasonable alternative but nowhere as fast as a traditional speed loader. I do not care for the twist tops as that is an extra movement and the knob can sometimes inadvertently be turned.

@@d7dun1010 I do quite a bit of shorts with the comp 1, comp 2, and speed strips. I wish there was a comp 2 loader that fit my S&W model 25. But since there isn’t I use speed strips with it. I don’t like turn dial speed loaders much so there aren’t any satisfactory loaders for my double action 45 colt at the moment.

Been carrying this way since 1984 and I’ve never had a knob spin and dump cartridges when not in contact with a cylinder to counter the knob spinning.

You might look at the “revision cv” loaders. There are no knobs to twist, or levers. And they as quick as anything ive used in the past. Plus they are really cheap ($13 for my 5 shot lcr). They dont have the 8 shot versions, but the 5 and 6 rounders are great.

I also run the 627, best way I found that conceals and is comfortable for me is using a moon clips with the Speedbeez single moon clip pouch wearing it IWB rather than OWB. doesn't make much noise, conceals well and protects moon clip. Does take some practice to rip the clip out efficiently though.

It works decently OWB but yeah it will print a little depending. Granted if I know I'm going somewhere like a say nice restaurant - I move over to the j-frame OWB concealed. I don't like IWB carrying 8-shots. I have a holster for my Pug Nose for IWB and it never worked for me. I might revisit that holster soon.

How do you feel about ejector rods coming loose on revolvers? I would put locktite on it, but S&W advised against that. Do I just always have to check if it's tight?
@TheOl1911
@TheOl1911 4 ай бұрын
Yes I would advise against doing that. Normally no - things should be good to go and you will never really have to worry about the ejector rod coming loose/backing out. However in all my time doing this with S&Ws revolvers - I've had 2 that came out of the box (brand new 627 Pro Series and 57 Classic) with a loose ejector rod I believe. Because after the first range visit I could no longer open the cylinder. I had to use some tricks of the trade to open the cylinder. I just sent them back to S&W and they did their thing (takes about 8-12 business days at that time) and it never happened again. But for the most part they seem to stay put. I have heard of guys using nail polish on those fine threads (these were old school Smiths) and only one person I know used purple loctite (222) and he told me he wished he never did so might not be a good idea.

I carried that Wilson for 5.5 years straight. Last year I just really got back into revolvers after I acquired a Korth Mongoose. It just kinda reinvigorated me with the wheel guns and I just went with it. I always find it a challenge to carry one and it is fun and it makes me 'feel good' so it motivates me to carry one and train/practice with one. I'll go back to the 1911 at some point or hell maybe I will join the club and carry a Glock again (it's been years). But I do shoot my Glocks behind the scenes I just don't talk about them as it seems like everyone has one and makes vids on one.

Yeah the autoloader crowd talks down to revolver folks about capacity as if they are going to have time to go through an entire mag or even reload in a five second gunfight. They have lost touch with reality. Yes there is that less than one percent chance of multiple threats and a longer gunfight and that is why we don't stake our lives on averages and do carry extra ammo/loaders. I want to give the Kaztac Wrapid loader a try to see if its for real but in the meantime I stick with speed strips. Speed loaders don't lay flat in the pocket like speed strips but the Wrapid does. Some have said its a gimmick but I will see eventually when I get it. I am not in one camp or the other as I use both autoloaders and revolvers because I know capacity is not everything. It takes practice to be proficient with it no matter which loader is used. You shift the gun to your support hand and load with your right. I don't. I load with my support hand. Just the way I was taught I guess and it has never bothered me since I am sort of or partially ambidextrous. My gun always stays in my gun hand whether right or left. I don't shift the gun. P.S. Try Maxfire eight shot speed loader that peels off like a speed strip. Zeta6 and Bianchi I doubt carry an eight shot.

Yeah it's very interesting how things "changed" since I started doing this. Don't get me wrong, behind the scenes I do shoot my Glocks and yes I understand that they are probably a more efficient firearm but I enjoy the revolver and enjoy carrying one / training and practicing with one. But seems everyone I meet at the range/shops all carry plastic with red dots carrying appendix. Nothing wrong with that at all but I find the individuals I talk to appear to be out of touch like you mention. Maybe a vid about this as I was just called a fudd LOL at the range. Soooo those Wrapid loaders. All I will say is I have tried them and I'm not sold on them. I don't have one to do a video but I know of someone that had one and literally gave it away because it was "poorly designed". His words not mine... I will try to obtain and do a vid.

@rbm6184 4 ай бұрын
@911Oh I have been called a lot of things. Fudd, Boomer, and so on. I don't care. I don't have to please them but do what works best for me. There is one point they don't like you mentioning and that is that revolvers are more reliable than autoloaders and easier to operate so I would not call them more efficient except maybe at reloading. I have three sisters that all have revolvers and they will not touch an autoloader unless I put one of mine in their hand and even then they will gripe about it. Haha. I shoot autoloaders well but I shoot revolvers better and that is why I like revolvers more. Thanks for the info on the Wrapids. Good to know. I might still get one just to try for myself. I still use speed strips mostly. Yes I have speed loaders but they don't lay flat in the pocket like speed strips. I just have to get used to using speed strips proficiently. Or the Zeta6 half cylinder strips so you can peel three at a time for just two quick peels. Thanks for the reply. Folks will do what they want and what works for them and nothing wrong with that but I do things the way I do for a reason. I don't put optics or lights on a "concealed" carry pistol that makes it harder to hide on my body and adds snag points. Nor do I carry appendix with the muzzle pointed at my femoral arteries. I mean after all it breaks the gun safety rule of "Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction."
@rbm6184
@rbm6184 4 ай бұрын
I want to elaborate on the folks that say "Carrying A Gun With 10 Rounds Or Less In 2024 Is Wild!" video I just saw. Most folks are out of touch with reality when it comes to capacity since no one is going to even get through the first mag or revolver cylinder let alone reload in a five second gunfight. Its over in five seconds. You don't need all that extra ammo but carry it if it makes you more confident. Yes there is that less than one percent chance of multiple threats and a longer gunfight and that is why we carry reloads and don't stake our lives on averages. If you live in gangland then I can see you needing that extra ammo but not the average person. So carry as many rounds as you think you might need for situations in your area. Bear in mind that if you fire more than two or three rounds at one or two threats then you will be held responsible for those rounds in court as a lawyer is attached to every bullet. Lawyers and juries are not going to be understanding if you spray and pray. The average person faces one or two threats in an extreme close range short quick five second gunfight while the above average person living in gang and crime ridden areas faces a greater chance of multiple threats and a fifteen to thirty second gunfight. So the average person should carry a minimum of twelve rounds while eighteen rounds would be better. The above average person should carry a minimum of twenty rounds while thirty would be better.
