The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film presents the 2011 Carson Lecture featuring former major league baseball player, sportscaster, comedian and actor Bob Uecker. The event features the announcement of an additional $1 million gift for scholarships from the John W. Carson Foundation and a special performance of the Cornhusker Marching Band.

When Johnny Carson passed away, so did late night comedy. I go back and watch his programs and they were great.

To realize that Johnny has been off the air now for just as long as he was on makes me feel both sad and very old. Nobody has ever, or will ever again, gather and entertain so many whole families the way Carson did. This man was THE MAN. Thanks for the memories, Johnny.

Ed Ames is still alive as of 2022. so are Bob Uecker and Doc Severinsen.

I remember my Dad saying that Johnny was the only person who could always get the better of Don Rickles. The ONLY person. That has stayed with me.

1st heard Bob Uecker on the radio. He had been traded to the Cardinals, it was raining, Harry Caray interviewed him just to fill air time, it was the funniest rain delay ever.

Bob Uecker is one of the funniest guys I have ever watched and he's not even a comedian. He has a great sense for telling funny stories. Doesn't happen much in sports.

ENTERTAINMENT, HOLLYWOOD HAS CHANGED SO MUCH. THEY CAN MAKE HOLLYWOOD A PARKING LOT NOW AND JUST PLAY RE-RUNS FROM THE PAST WOULD BE MUCH BETTER.

Bob Ueker is a national treasure. He brings smiles to people everywhere he goes and can hold the attention of whatever crowd he is asked to face. He is 88 years old as of the time I’m writing this, 9/3/2022, and is still working hard as the Milwaukee Brewers play by play announcer. I hope he has many more years of happy life!

Bob is a great man and comedian. A great observer of life...glad we were able to appreciate him.

Johnny was THE great American showman! NOBODY anywhere, before or since, comes near to his genius in running what was, in essence, a variety show. I miss that guy every single day.

Bob was equally funny as Johnny to me...it is really sad such great comedians will never again walk the earth...it was a great honor to have seen them both...
