The Ford Escape got an upgrade for the 2023 model year, with Ford bringing some small new exterior highlights but an impressive new interior! The Escape Active trim level is the entry level in Canada, while the US has a Base model (which has very similar features).
You'll find the Active with a smaller 8" cluster screen and 8" Sync 4 infotainment screen which features the same wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as the larger screen! With Standard front wheel drive and optional all wheel drive, you'll only find it with Ford's 1.5L turbocharged engine.
In this video you're going to learn the basics of the 2023 Ford Escape Active, while I show you the difference between this and other trim levels.

Nice video, I like how you include some cross shopping advice in your description. Escapes have definitely gotten roomier than the 2017 we test drove when we got our Edge.

Thanks Louis, good to know that people catch the other recommendations! How are you enjoying the Edge so far?
@louism8217

@Cars With Steve we really like it a lot. It's easy to get in and out of due to the seat height. There's definitely enough room for 2 large convertible child seats, and still be able to get a third child in for shorter trips. 2 boosters and a third child is certainly acceptable. Plus it is comfortable, easy to drive and has lots of space. I hope Ford decides to make a new one as it is larger than Mach E.

Don't quote me, but Ford Authority said the next Escape will be electrified only. Think that means HEV, PHEV, and EV only.
@CarsWithSteve

I really like the Edge because of the extra space compared to the Escape. I'm curious what Ford's next 2 row EV will be too. Saw Michael's comment about the next gen EV only which would make sense but it would be great if it was Mach E, Edge EV then Explorer EV to hit different sizes people may want
@louism8217

@Cars With Steve that would be great! My son actually asked why I didn't get an EV, and had to tell him cost, size and capability, but they'll catch up pretty quickly to meet those needs.

Consumers seem to be upset with 2023 price increase, but the Active has a lot of added features. Even the Base comes with added features.
@CarsWithSteve
@CarsWithSteve Жыл бұрын
Agree with you there.. the Base/Active trims are good options for people who are price conscious and don't really care about the added tech

So, the Escape Active is the evolution of the Escape S (I have one with AWD). I wish the 8" screen had been available for the 2020 model year for the entry-level trim, like it is now.
@CarsWithSteve
@CarsWithSteve 11 ай бұрын
Yes it is! I was surprised that Ford had the smaller 4" screen on the Escape for so long but at least this one is the larger 8" standard. There's always the option to do a screen/module swap but for the price it may not be worth it

Towards the end of the video, Steve drew a quick comparison among Bronco Sport, Maverick, & Escape. Mostly spot on. Just small things. Unlike Escape, Bronco Sport does not have a hybrid (both mild hybrid & full hybrid) version. There is a more comparable vehicle which build on the same platform as Escape & that is Lincoln Corsair. And full hybrid Corsair is AWD - unlike Escape. However, Corsair is more expensive (& better built) than Escape. Both these vehicles row out from the same assembly line too - sort of a twin.

Cool to know that people catch those details that I drop! Bang on with the Corsair, I have a Corsair vs Escape review video for all the reasons you mention. Well said!

The front seats in the Corsair are an abomination. Hard plastic with a padded cover on the front only.

@@CarsWithSteve I think they should be standard on all cars , makes you more visable when signaling to turn. Your thoughts on some of the vehicles that are now moving the rear turn signals down at the bottom of the rear bumpers where the reflectors are. I think it's a really bad idea for many reasons.

I'm going to start highlight turn signals in future videos so that people can see what they look like front and rear 🤔

For the 2023 models the USA had the Base trim but the Active trim is the entry level in Canada (which is where I live). The 2024 models in the USA no longer have the Base so the Active is entry level now

These cars are very small, compared to the 2022 escapes. The seats are smaller as is the steering wheel. The cabin size is also smaller. The length of the car is also shorter. The chassis is the same but from the doors up they have downsized everything! The price is also a lot higher! Inside looks like cheap plastic, mainly across the dash area. What a FORD disappointment!
@CarsWithSteve

Oh where to start.. 2022 vs 2023 dimensions that are the same: - exterior wheelbase, length and height - interior 1st and 2nd row headroom, hip and leg room, along with cargo volume behind 1st and 2nd row The 2022 vs 2023 is the exact same size wise inside and out. The change was in styling and tech. Year over year pricing is about $1,500 different in Canada and around $900 in the US so not a lot higher but in line with inflation

I owned the 2022 SE Escape. The 2023 is overall shorter and the height is lower. I have pictures of both cars parked side by side showing the difference. The cabin size is also smaller, which is why Ford put in smaller seats and smaller steering wheel. This car is not roomy. I had the 2023 built, which has better tech. I did buy the 2023, but I will not be keeping it very long. @@CarsWithSteve
