Fernando Puente the cartel homie i always wanted. He got wrapped up in cartel business as a teenager in Tijuana, and began smuggling people, g*ns, and dr*gs across the US border. He went to prison for a year and has since changed his ways. He explains the role of music in the cartels, what cartel parties are like, and how he survived getting kidnapped by Tijuanas most dangerous Cartel... The State Police. Welcome to camp baby!

@@cesarmeza5331 I’m not saying he’s not responsible for his actions. He did his time if I remember correctly and grew from it. Clearly, as the interview shows. So what’s your take? In prison for what exactly and for how long? I agree. Take Chiraq for instance. Products of their environments. But they are responsible and have every opportunity to get away from it and should. Most don’t and won’t. This guy did and he’s thriving now. I’d go as far as to say give this man a pass and lock away the ones who never grew from their mistakes. But this guy did. You can do bad things and be a good man. In fact. It’s almost a requirement to be a good man. Being incapable of violence and not being violent doesn’t give you virtue, being deadly and controlling it will.

@@brandonmontemayor8178 the way I see it is from someone who has seen the bodies hanging from the bridges. He is monetizing his experience, and that just angers and sadnesses me. It feels like glorifying a situation that is still currently causing so much pain and destruction in Mexico. I couldn't even get past a couple of minutes of the conversation, to tell the story with a smile, tells me a lot. Maybe I'm off based and unfair, but I am coming from my own experiences here in Mexico

2:40:45 those parties are like how he described. I’ve been to one in Mexico where they did it at a soccer field in that area with a stage on both ends of the field . With the best groups playing. I remember being starstruck and my uncle was like “cmon, let’s go backstage” and he took me to meet them. My dad asked the host, “what happens if your enemies show up?” And he replied “they won’t. I got people surrounding this field , they won’t get in.” Everyone is strapped up. Can’t even enjoy the party tbh cause of paranoia

As someone who has been in the Tijuana area a lot I can tell you the way to do it is not offer the cop cash straight up - if they are tying you up saying there is a problem or even that they're going to take you to jail, you ask if there is a fine you can just pay now... that way they aren't copping to a bribe.

What immediately struck me is this young mans inability to differentiate between friends vs. acquintances. One of the first rules to growing into a man is to realize the difference. Most people are not and will never be your "friend". Especially in the streets, running and gunning and especially in crime. Acquintances are just people you know, some even your entire life. You may even trust them to a point, but a real friend you can tell anything to. They will do their best to steer you away from harm...not towards it. Even if that means at a cost to themselves. You can look foolish and they will laugh with you...not at you. A friend will carry/raise your spirit not deminish it. A friend you can do simple boring things like fish, go to a movie...they listen. They don't judge you and only want the best for you when they see you at your lowest they will bend over backwards to pick you up. Friends also will come and go...but that's life & lives change. The difference was they grew because of you. Acquintances grow by using you.
