When it comes to a classic pipe tobacco of distinction that is simply timeless, few can compete with the likes of Carter Hall. It's one of my personal favorites especially when it comes to doing yard work and yearning for something that is consistent, comforting, and downright delicious.
I managed to get my hands on several sealed tins from the 1970s, when the blend was still made by its original manufacturer, RJ Reynolds. The blend was originally developed in the mid 1950s and John Middleton Inc. took over producing in 1987.
It is a Burley, Virginia mixture that is topped with Bourbon and Cocoa. I like to think of it as Prince Albert's "Sweeter" cousin.
Thankfully, this blend is still available today, and if you haven't had the opportunity to get some, I highly recommend it!
The pipes featured in this video come from the one and only Dr. Grabow!
Hope you enjoy me cracking open one of these delectable nostalgic time capsules. I will say that the original RJ Reynolds is much richer and all around better in my opinion, when compared to the current John Middleton production.
Take care and swell smokes, my friends!
