Earlier this month, we did a sneak peek at the new exciting features that are coming to Cartoon Animator 5. Now that the animation software is already out of beta and available for all users let's take a deeper dive into it in this video.

A lot of people don’t talk about it because after spending time and money on version 4 you get an email saying it’s been cancelled (Mac version) - not the first of their apps (any platform) to get cancelled after they sell you a load of packs for it. Not using anything by them, don’t care how good it is, it’s like buying games for Stadia!

To top things off, they announced the cancellation of mac one day after the trailer for 5 came out. They could have at least announced it in the development stage. It’s like they were like “crap, we still have this bug but we’ve already fired our free lance mac developer…. Cancel the whole mac line”

I got 4 a couple of months before 5 and it wants in their window to get this update. Needless to say, I'm not buying it a second time or paying the upgrade price when I already own it. I cant believe they won't upgrade you within a year or 6 months of buying it.

This seemed like exactly what I was looking for until I started reading the comments where you can't upgrade if you owned a previous version? What happens when this version locks up after a newer realise?

Buyer Beware. Cartoon Animator is far from easy to use though they want it to look that way, it is not user friendly. Be prepared to invest lots of time in learning animation and drawing and movement work and GOOD luck trying to get things to work that ought to be push button simple. LIKE the LOOP button!

What's better, CA5 or Blender Grease Pencil. I own both, but I only have time to learn one. It seems like Blender is more powerful but takes more time.

If you want to animate frame by frame then use Blender GP. If you want to use pre rigged characters using 2d and 3d motions the go for CA5. Using a motions for a walk cycle in CA5 only takes you 3 seconds.

Get a pirate copy of Adobe animation stuff. It’s is better on every count and will give you skills useful in the industry.

I need a good 2d rigging animation program. I tried to make Blender work (by creating my own addons) but with the way Grease Pencil functions makes it too much of a hassle to implement.

So true. People who say "this is the best" are really saying "this is the one I prefer." The BEST animation software is the one that does the job you want fast and efficiently. All the software options out there have their pros and cons. Its seems limiting to yourself and others by not acknowledging that.

Yes. You can also link your digital art software to it to easily edit or create content for the animator.

🤫, this app rasterizes vector graphics in order to use them, therefore no vector transform points for you!

You can use animate to make multi angled G2 characters in CA5.

Thats how I feel. Better to say Cartoon Animator now has those features at last, rather than Reallusion not including useful tools just because someone already has somthing similar. Have a great day!

You certainly can. And you can custom rig your bones for your character and all facil animation.

Thats right. Cartoon Animator is animation software, not illustration software. BUt you can use your preferred illustration software to create content to animate in CTA.

This is just a hype video for the software. In reality, You will need other digital resources to create video. The learning curve is the size of a mountain.

I hate this software . u cannot do what ever u want everything is already made . No creative no ideas nothing just drag and drop . add to that it is very heavy for pc ,big size etc . Moho has amazing features with 460 mb setup size .

You can import original art in a .psd file. You were probably trying to move too fast and became impatient or frustrated. Perna),i feel that programs like this and toon boom harmony are fucking dinosaurs and both programs UI looks like they were made in 1993

Well thats simply not true at all. That seems like an untruth you are trying to spread just because you dont like the software. Of course you can do whatever you want. And I do! You can create all your own characters and rigs. And I do! You can create all your own layered backgrounds. And I do! You can create all your own props. And I do! No creative ideas? I hope they come to you soon.

I dont think Toon Boom, Moho or Cartoon Animator are crap. They are all excellent programs.

Massive fan of Real Illusion, but CTA is not the best production 4 is my fav. Saving up to buy iclone bundle. Accurig is insane for a few clicks and rigging
