@Christopher Huber I make videos on them and no one watches. This is further indicated to me by this comment. I make these videos and people say I’m negative but everyone watches. However, I’ll keep doing vids on good ones, as they come. The good companies aren’t the ones usually on a list praising how good they are. They lay low and are usually smaller. Ill be on the lookout, and try to make them more clickable. Thanks

@Christopher Huber Not me. I dig it. There reason why there are negative comments is that PEOPLE ARE FRUSTRATED, ANGRY AND HOPELESS. Joshua lets us VENT vicariously. He's like a Jimmy Dore but for the labour industry. There are very few outlets for this type of thing and this is why people let it all hang out. So...if you don't like this shit, kindly FUCK OFF and don't complain about a service that is frankly cathartic, enlightening and spiritual for many of us. Terrible that you think you are better than us. Sure makes you look like an asshole.

@Christopher Huber I was wondering if you knew of any such good company. It seems a bit naive to think anywhere there is a concentration of money & resources there's also not people being the worst versions of themselves. Money amplifies character. A good company is an exception rather than the rule. Maybe that's the reason there are so few videos relating the companies being all around fantastic. I remember one such that Josh put out where the employer rewarded their employee with $10- or $20,000. The relative few of us who did watch all went to the LinkedIn post and gave the praise they deserved. But you go ahead and scan LinkedIn and give us a bunch of examples like this that Josh can put the spotlight on...I'll wait. Some people realize that the channel serves mostly as a warning and a red flag detector so you can avoid the bad while seeking out the good companies that do fly under the radar. They're usually small and don't hand out gold stars to get lame recognition.

Huge corporations can never be like family. Its different when you work in a small company with like 7 people total like i do, we all know eachother and help eachother because business depends on it. We have eachother backs and dont talk BS behind our backs. I did work at a very large company before and the bosses above us didnt even know our names so you could hardly call that family, theyd fire you without even a blink on their eyes and you wont even get to know the real reason, or even get a heads up long time before being fired that business is slowing down or whatever. In large corps you are just a number on a piece of paper, never believe anything different thats just delusional.

This is why Josh is spot on when he said always apply for jobs even when you don't need one: you're never guaranteed tomorrow.
@Richie3Jack
@Richie3Jack 2 жыл бұрын
Very true, but it's also good to apply for jobs when you don't need one (meaning you already have a job) as surveys have shown that the pay is substantially more for job applicants that already have a job and they are far more likely to get hired. I used to think that wasn't the case because if you needed an employee, why wouldn't go after the one that you can pay less and get started right away? Boy was I wrong and when I started to use that I got better jobs at substantially better pay. Josh makes a brilliant point about companies that say they are growing rapidly as being a red flag. I never thought about it that way, but when I look back at the jobs I've taken from these 'rapidly growing companies' only to see then a few years later have massive layoffs. Regardless of the company being reckless or not, expansion is one of the most difficult things for any company to successfully execute and often leads companies to their downfall. Odds are they will bungle something along the way and the new employees will take the brunt of it. As far as Carvana's severance goes...it's a pretty good deal in comparison to other companies that I've worked for. Normally it's been 1 week for every year worked and often times your insurance only lasts throughout the end of the month. The last company I worked for (got furloughed for COVID-19 and then let go) they had the same deal although they kept us on our insurance through the furlough (6 months) and then an extra 3 months when they let us go.

I worked at Carvana for 2 years and was fired about 5 months ago. I was fired for not taking enough calls according to them. Never had been written up, late to work and had the best customer service in our team. And altogether have over 8 years in the car industry. I took less calls because I was fixing customers issues and not just pushing it out to someone else. I know crazy! And oh boy were there issues! Anyone with half a brain, could have seen that hiring more people was not the answer to all these issues. But we needed more training and better management. You are so right about the “we are growing super fast” being a red flag! Check this out: I was hired 10 days ago at a company that claimed 44% growth from previous year. I checked them out thoroughly and they were legit. I gave notice to my company of 4 1/2 years (President’s Club 2021) and turned in my computer and other equipment today and had my exit interview. Scheduled to start Monday at the new job. Then, today also - 2 days before the new job starts - they call me and tell me they’ve decided not to continue building sales force in my city and are rescinding the offer! After she tells me that, she tries to start with the “we are sorry” and the small talk, and I said “Sounds like there’s nothing more to talk about. Get lost.” CLICK 😂 The good news is that I’ll be okay, already working different ideas. And really they did me a favor. They showed me that they are a completely horrible company before I had to go and work for them 😂

Generally, you should not quit your current job until you have a confirmed start date and ideally, you have already completed payroll and onboarding paperwork for the new company. Ideally, you take your unused vacation with our current company, use that time (and money) to bridge the gap before your first check at your new company. If you can switch or modify your hours. Most companies are smart enough to know that vacation requests out of the blue, especially for the full remainder of your entitlement, probably means you intend to quit. Second, while it's customary, you are not required to give notice unless that is part of your contract (if you have a contract). Although I wouldn't advise this because even though you may not list them as a reference they can contact, they can still be contacted anyways.

Young people please don't start a family or get pregnant at this time. Companies/Government/organizations have no loyalty to employees they will turn on you in a second when its convenient and fire/replace you. Governments are also increasing authoritarianism while helping the Globalist elites to consolidate all wealth/power. To ensure no slavery like life, girls should remember to take the birth control pill daily and both guy/girl should use protection and consider Tubal Ligation which is a quick procedure. You will just condemn your new child to increasing poverty and freedomless slavery and these control/money/job trends worsen. The system in all countries ks getting worse now and children born now will suffer. Imagine your child living in a technically advanced meaning more brutal total surveillance Communist or dictatorship style society as that is the planned future if you choose to have kids. Carvana, WeWork, Casper all these companies are just middlemen and not really "tech" companies. They exist as a front, to "grow" the company real fast through stock pumping and eventual dumping. No different than the whole crypto space and shitcoins that have no literal chance of mass adoption. I worked for a software integration a few years ago and they tried to gas up 'blockchain technology" for managing contracts and transactions. They learned it's all bs and easier to make money by gaslighting morons to buy up shares and help them with the pump and dump. It's all just massive legalized ponzi schemes and the people who had the means to start these companies, are the ones benefitting from selling off their shares like the Garcia II dude in this video. And it's always the people middle management down, that get wrecked. Something needs to big needs to happen in this country again to stop all this nonsense.

When times are good they tend not to fire people - so you can easily be the worst performer with no consequences. On a downturn they fire a lot based on performance/billability but at that moment in time. End result is you could have been the best performer for years making a lot for the company but if you are unlucky enough to be slightly unbillable on a downturn you are on the chopping block. Similarly - you could have been terrible for years but if you hit a streak just as it turns down you are safe - been through this cycle a few times now......

I'm not sure if that was ever explained to me when I was let go back in 2010. I did work on their Enterprise Service side for the Sun Microsystems until Oracle bought Sun and kicked us to the curb, after telling us "how great we were." That sucks, it was genuinely a descent place to work at. They definitely followed the WARN act though, got told we would be let go close to the end of the year, wound up being 9 months later. In Australia, many contracts have that if you get made redundant, you get paid more based on the years worked. For example, I was made redundant after 10 years in 1 company. My contract stated “2 months pay notice plus 1 month pay for every year worked if made redundant”. I was paid 12 months pay and taxed at a lower rate due to losing my job.

I was a casualty of the newspaper industry. Started working for newspapers when I was 19, and had no experience other than I can type fast LOL. I was a quick study and taught myself how to be a "typesetter" back in the 80s, then I taught myself how to design advertising, and also editorial page design. I worked in that industry for over 30 years, but the last 17 years were working for NYT Regional papers. They laid off my entire department in 2008. We were devastated, as we all thought we'd be retiring from that job. They had layoffs from all other departments over a year's time, but they did us the worst. Everyone who got laid off, was told to leave that day. Not us...they FORCED US to stay for 45 days. Told us that we were let go, but that we had to stay for the 45 days in order to receive the severance package. We were traumatized. We didn't WANT to stay for 45 days, coming into that place every day, knowing we were done. They called us all in at the same time, and instead of giving us a private firing, they group fired us. Most of those same people from my department had been there for 30 years (since high school). It was very depressing and really just awful. Sorry for the long story, and I could tell you WAY more about the ridiculousness of how they were handling this transition, but I've probably overstayed my comment LOL

I really enjoyed this video, Josh. There was a Carvana that popped up in Indianapolis maybe 2 years ago and it kind of came out of nowhere. Just last week I noticed that they completely tore it down and it’s not just a vacant lot. I’ve also been hearing of some shady practices where they weren’t giving people the title to the vehicle they purchased for well over a year (it is illegal to be driving the vehicle after 30 days when your temporary plate expires). Not sure what’s going on there, the whole business isn’t really for me. Just because things are ‘new’ and ‘disrupt’ doesn’t really mean it’s good lol.

A lay-off is an opportunity to get rid of "dead wood" - donut-eaters that aren't pulling their own weight...people that feel that showing up and doing the minimum work justifies a paycheck. And, an opportunity to get rid of the "grumblers" that affect overall morale. It's a whole lot easier than the drawn-out procedure of "programming out", which can put a target on a manager's back. A lay-off is more anonymous, and makes the faceless corporation the bogeyman instead a person or two that can be attacked on the street. Also, it's an opportunity to get rid of older workers and workers whose health issues will raise the premium on the health care plan. I know a guy that had a stroke, and he was let go (probably with a severance package) a few month later. This is how corporate America thinks. Very few of us actually have job security; save more, plan for the worst.
