Fun fact, you can take a pumpkin and kinda scratch out the shape of what you want and the chickens will "carve" out the design you "scraped" into the skin of the pumpkin. Its sweet to see and entertaining too. They are a little slow, but they will get the job done! Loved this! Super sweet! Great job ladies! If yall lived closer I would gladly volunteer my kiddos and their pumpkins and let yall carve w them, so yall could have plenty of practice for baaby boy of course..LOL thats my story and Im sticking to it! (Not my favorite thing to do, but I do it for my kiddos)

My son uses a Dremel on his pumpkins and creates amazing designs.

Y’all did a great job for your first time carving pumpkins. When my daughter was three years old and we carved pumpkins for her and her brothers, I asked her what her pumpkins name was. She said her name was Sally. We didn’t know anyone named Sally and we didn’t watch any cartoons with characters that were named Sally, so I guess she just liked the name. It was fun watching you two beautiful ladies carving your first pumpkins. I’ll give you both an A+. My daughter and her husband carved a pumpkin along with their two boys, ages 4 and 1. She laid out a mat on the kitchen floor, then dumped all the guts onto it and let her boys have a free for all stomping in it with bare feet. The giggles were hilarious!

You both did a wonderful job carving your first pumpkins! I bet they would look really nice with a little tea candle set inside them to give off a "glowing" effect. Roast the seeds from the pumpkins and eat them

I haven't carved a pumpkin in probably 20 years. After watching y'all I'm gonna get a pumpkin and carve it! For the last pumpkin I carved, I made paper templates and taped them to the areas I wanted to carve out.

My granddaughters carved their first jack-o'-lanterns last year, at 9 and 11 years old. Up until then, they painted their pumpkins. I love carving pumpkins, and have been doing it since I was allowed to handle a knife, maybe 8 years old. I always roast the seeds, using a light, low flavor-profile oil, and some sea salt. Oh, MY, but aren't they so tasty! You are naturals with those carving tools, and I hope you'll make this a new tradition for yourselves - it's SO fun! 🎃 Happy Halloween, ladies, and peace be with you. 💚

I love the smell of the raw pumpkin and even more when the candle cooks the inside. We always roast the seeds too. So yummy! 🎃🎃 PS we use an ice cream scoop to scrape the pulp from the inside walls.

It brought back memories of driving through the Central Pennsylvania mountains in autumn bursting with fall colors. Now I live in the arid shrubsteppe region of eastern Washington State, where there are not that many trees. However, there are plenty of trees in the town where I live that are showing their fall colors (mostly yellow, though). Cute! The history of the Jack O'lantern was made to look scary to keep all evil away, kinda like a gargoyle on churches. Second, something I learned way back in the day is to cut a hole in the bottom instead of the top and you set it over a candle and the pumpkin won't rot for a long time... Both pumpkins so cute!!

I loved the drive thru the country side. The colors on the trees are so beautiful. Especially with the mountains in the horizon. Great job carving your pumpkins. Haven’t carved a pumpkin since my daughter was little. Makes me want to do one. I love the roasted pumpkin seeds yummy. That’s the best part.

You can add a nice light to the inside. Makes a world of difference. A small candle or a small light that is ran off of a battery.

The story is, that Irish immigrants were carving their Jack o’Lanterns in swede turnips ( rutabaga), when a Californian who had a glut of pumpkins persuaded them that their final product would look better carved in a larger, brighter vegetable. And here we are! Samhain was the name of the Celtic festival from which Halloween emerged.

I love pumpkin carving! Have not carved one since my girl left for college & now she is 39! We don’t get any trick or treaters our here in the wild. When I was a child, my parents took us to town and we walked around a neighborhood to get the candy! I believe those days are long past… Blessings, Allison 🍁😊

I add pumpkin’ to my front porch for the fall decorations, but I never carve them either, I just love pumpkin pie and breads and cookies, so I cut and cook mine, but for a few weeks they match my decor for Fall, all the pretty colors!!God Bless

Roasted seasoned pumpkin seeds are good to eat. Makes for a nice snack. I haven't had them since I was a kid but have fond memories of eating them,. My Mom used to make them after we carved pumpkins each year when I was a kid. And then of course you can make pumpkin pie with the pumpkin that you scoop out too. Little slices of pumpkin is also surprisingly good on pizza!
