Use to watch this being done at the mall all the time , well various malls in various cities over the years , during the holiday seasons. Very fun and entertaining to watch in person. Never got tired watching. I had a couple, lost in the many many moves I've made but never could bring myself to burn them. I have heard that some people sit a tea candle in the top divit and burn that instead of the actual candle.

Disagree. This is not hard work, in fact it's very relaxing. Hard work is hanging 5/8 drywall by yourself on vaulted ceilings. Hard work is mining with your hands and buckets in Zimbabwe in the heat and filth. Hard work is when the Haitians eat dirt cookies to survive. You no nothing of hard work. When the EMP hits you will be amoung the first to go. You will look back at this comment as the band of hard workers take what's yours and dispatch your friends and family. Only then will you understand hard work as you try desperately to take your last breath. Gurgling, pressure, warm fluid dripping down the throat. Breathing will be hard work. Just as you finally truly understand hard work, darkness will fall and fail you as will your memory. I love you and want what's best for you KZfaq friend. Learn what hard work is before it's to late. Appreciate hard work. Do hard work. Big Black said it best. "Do work son!"

Those were popular in the 1970's. They were actually very hard to keep burning. When I visited Hawaii in the 90's, there were open shops which made these candles as customers watched. I got the idea they used regular Crayons for color so I had the idea the wax had to have special ingredients for it to be maleable and maybe that was why it was so hard to keep one of these candles lit.

I could watch this all day! Would even like to try to carve a candle myself if getting the chance sometime, just to see what it’s like to work with. My grandmother and her partner had a carved candle at home, but I think her partners daughter brought the candle home or it just got thrown out when my grandmother moved to an apartment sometime after her partner died (the house was just too big for her to manage alone, and it was her partners childhood home which became his daughters house when he passed, my grandmother and her partner were not married) I always admired that candle anyways, and should I ever visit Netherlands other than a flight transit in Amsterdam, I’d most definitely try to find a shop that sells carved candles as I’d love to have one of those wonderful candles at home as decoration

I’ve got a laser pointer temperature gauge for my pool, grill, etc. I was really surprised to learn that the wax closest to the flame can get as high as 500 degrees after monitoring for a while. So, I stopped messing with candle wax; it made sense why I had been burned before by screwing with it. But hey, pour it all over your sexual partners body lol 😅

Don't know why a 4-year-old video appeared on my recs, but I remember these sorts of candles being made at the Renaissance Faire I used to go to every year since I was something like 10 or 11. These were a common thing to be seen, right alongside pewter tankards, leather pouches, flower garlands, handmade soaps, and huge turkey legs. Never bought one, because I tended to want things that were wearable and made it possible for me to feel like I fit in at Faire (why yes, I was a theatre and art kid in high school!), but I always kept it on my list of things I wanted until the year the Faire had to move sites, and the candlemakers stopped attending, as did so many folks.
