I might be weird but I honestly love the sound of the tool scratching away 😜. Also those grips are looking too nice to ever use👌 hopefully it's just a display gun 😜

Howdy Dave. Yeah, the scratching sounds like progress to me. I just wasn’t sure if the mic would make it worse than it is..🥴l’ll bet these get worn a bit anyway, kinda like a modern version of Netsuke. As l’m working on these l can think of many more carvings to do on grips, but I guess that’s how one’s mind works. I hope all is well with you.

Thank you Rich, l appreciate that! Yes,l made our wedding rings by carving them out of wax, then found a jeweler who had them cast for us. My wife wanted yellow gold and I chose rose gold ( l liked it because it looked like copper).

May I ask what kind of glue you use to temporaly glue it to wood for beter grip?

Hello Pohl Peter, when I temporarily tack a piece down l use tite bond ll wood glue, and l use a very thin bladed knife to release it. For this project I made a little board with two dowels that fit the screw holes and that seems to keep it in place pretty good.

As I am fairly new here, I notice you work in several mediums. Which is your favorite to work in? I took work in multiple areas and am curious if you believe it is better to focus on one or do you believe it is an asset to be well versed in several mediums? Thanks for your time.

Hello Ashley, yes l enjoy working with my hands in all kinds of mediums. My favorite would be ivory, but I also like metal, wood, fur and fabric. Let your heart guide you, I pursue things that interest me.
