Come on then, just try and name a better hot hatch vs performance saloon line-up than this!
Mat's rolled up in the all-new Audi RS3 Sportback, and alongside him, we've got Yianni in the latest BMW M3 Competition to see which will snatch the win over the quarter-mile!
So let's see how they stack up. Starting with the M3, it's powered by a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six that can put down 510hp & 650Nm of torque. It drives the rear wheels only, and it tips the scales at 1,730kg.
Then we have the RS3. As you can imagine, it's lighter, weighing in at 1,570kg. What's more, it also comes equipped with all-wheel drive! However, it's down on power compared to the M3, with its 2.5-litre 5 cylinder engine 'only' producing 400hp and 500Nm of torque.
So what do you think - will the M3 walk it? Or will the lighter Audi snatch the win? There's only one way to find out... LET'S RACE!

True but for the price the M3 is way better... Also, if the RWD is enough to be way faster than the RS3, the AWD X Drive M3 absolutely destroy the RS3 in every way even if the Audi was tuned. I love Audi but it's just *facts.* A *simple ECU stage 1* being bone stock on the S58 M3 is almost 700HP and can take 900HP on *stock* internals. Those cars already do *2.5s* on the 0-60mph and are literally 9s cars on the 1/4 miles with *simple and basic S1 tunes.* Even faster than the 4x more pricey Porsche 992 Turbo S by far. No chance for the Audi. Even the RS5+RS6 Quattro got destroyed by the M3. BMW did absolute beasts. And it just getting started...

I remember we had a ride in previous RS3 and ever since I cannot imagine better hot hatch period. Also cannot imagine how they could make it even better. This drag race is legit!

Hell I was selling cars when the first U.S. available RS car showed up (the RS6, all $92,000 of it...in 2005?). I was selling a car to a Porsche owner for his son, and I whistled when the RS6 went by. He asked why, I told him it was the fastest car on the lot, and he said "I drive a Porsche, can't be that fast". I told him it was probably the only car on the lot that could, with around 450 horsepower from a (turbo?) 8 cylinder.

In most of the videos i ve seen so far giulia qv eats the m3 when we compare stock cars ofc... what a car made by alfa. Most of the ppl will get the BMW rather than an Alfa in nearly same price range anyway... but i heard driving an Alfa... u just have to try it... Its somethin diff :)

The rs3 would have been killed by the XDrive one, and the no competition one would have lost on drag race i bet, but won the rolling one… With warm tires, even the quattro isn t enough to make the difference with the RWD… The rs3 is a really good car, but in the rolling race you can see the real difference between 400 and 510hp 😰 So that was an unfair race, and the result was what expected… but i would have bet on the rs3 in braking test 🤔

@@batmanwayne9962 yeah this race was as expected, in reality the G80 M3C makes 550hp and the 8Y makes 440-450hp. The Xdrive can launch really well, but it sacrifices some power to drivetrain loss if you look at instrumented numbers, traps 3mph slower in the quarter mile. Actually pretty similar trap speed to a stock 10-speed Mustang Gt.. now that’s impressive

Expected result. M3 is very very powerful car, almost 300hp per tonne vs Audi RS3 which is about 250hp per tonne. That is a big difference.

Bumper replace isnt that big of a deal but honestly for the price the 340i is more car than youll ever need. Thats coming from an m guy the b58 seriously rips. My girl has 440i with bm3 and i gotta say its more than youll ever need. I had my f10 m5 on stage 2 so its not like im not use to some crazy performance. Hats off to bmw for the b58.

So, in the real world at the traffic lights, the AWD car will beat the RWD car to at least 60mph. And, the AWD car performance is repeatable with little skills but reactions, whereas the RWD driver needs more skills to achieve a good start. BTW, the RS3 has a great sounding engine!

@@actuallypaulstanley lol after 15 min of driving the temps. is already decent and u can launch it pretty well. But we comapare rs3 with m3 which is on another level, m3 with xdrive can do 11 sec 1/4 mile.

Times sometimes vary, quickest RS5 time on here is 11.7, quickest RS3 time is 11.8

The Rs6 avant is way faster than the m4 competition on the 1/4M, it had been massively improved, the 2021 version. M4 does catch up, but it's too late.

The M3 may of won, but it has 110bhp more and 150nm of torque above the RS3. That and the fact the two are not in the same category of car - so all in all you have to consider the RS3 to be punching well above it's weight.

The rs3 is phenomenal . Its fighting in a whole different class. It also costs a huge sum less than the g80 . Just needs exhaust and software to destroy the g80

the m3 is still heavier and only has rear wheel drive, while the audi is all wheel drive.

Xdrive m3 cand do 11 sec 1/4 mile. In my country rs3 is only 10k euro cheaper, it s weird that 25k difference in uk
