Cascade Saddle, 6 months ago I could have not imagine to be a confident enough tramper to attempt this route. But a Weekend with perfect conditions made it possible. By far one of my favorite hikes!
I accessed this hike from the Raspberry Creek Carpark in the Matukituki Valley and came out at Chinamans Bluff after crossing the Cascade Saddle and going down the Dart Valley.
I stayed one night in the Aspiring Hut and one in the Dart Hut with a Backcountry Hut Pass so in total it took me 3 days.
Going up the Saddle should only done with good physical form and perfect condition. There are some sections that can be dangerous when they are wet or icy.

General Info:
Hey, I am Paul, 23 and I decided at September of 2019 to leave everything behind that was known to me. I am currently based in Glenorchy/Nz, in the heart of the Mountains and head of the Lake Wakatipu, with access to many great hikes! Join me on this awesome adventure!

Great video ..we did this route before Dart Lake was formed. Also before they strengthen the bridge over Snowy Creek ( before the Dart Hut)

Wow, great filming! I tramped the East and West Matutukituki and climbed Aspiring and a few other easier peaks in my 20's, but never got around to tramping the Cascade Saddle. I'm 70 now and I know I couldn't handle the exposure on the ascent, so huge thanks for taking us along for the ride. The algorithm just popped your video up, and I'm now going to watch the rest of your videos. 👍

Thanks Paul the video was very nostalgic, 5 years ago I needed to escape and spent a few months backpacking and hiking through NZ. Cascade saddle was an absolute highlight. Next trip I'd like to walk from Arthurs pass to Nelson lakes and then explore further into Fiordland. Dart Glacier is a real hidden Gem.

Doing this solo would have been tough. Walking back to collect the camera every time would have added miles to your hike.

Haha it actually gives me joy to walk part of the track again, you see everything from a different angle like that!

Doing this in December, did someone pick you up at Chinamans Bluff or someone transferred your car?

I want to do exactly this hike and I was wondering exactly this. We are tourists from Europe and we are renting a car. How would the logistics work?@@Paul-travl
