Why I don't fully support the idea of self defence for women (in cases like these) is because it feels more of normalising than protecting. There are all kind of females, young girls, disabled, physically weak. No matter how trained she had been, she could still not wrestle 6 men. So, educating men is all I agree upon. Educate men, save women. Only persons responsible for rapes are rapists.

I watched the documentary of this case and I saw the defense layer of the culprits supporting them like nothing happened. I think it is really high time that countries like Nepal and India revise the definition of a juvenile. In comparison to the past 40-50 years children today are mature and conscience at an early age. The saddest part about this case is that the actual culprits have no guilt and they are still blaming Jyoti for whatever happened. The thinking that if a girl goes out with her male friend means she is characterless is so pathetic. I had also seen a documentary in which a lawyer was comparing girls to a packet of sweets. According to him if a packet of sweets is left open everyone will come and eat it so one should be conscious about it. This clearly demonstrates how terrible and lower thinking people have about women and their consent. When will society stop objectifying women?

A lawyer's duty is to defend their clients but blaming the other person's choice of life or activity to blame their suffering is intolerable. I think even the lawyer should be punished. And a man never rapes. It's the rapist. An educated person never forces others and that's a true man's ideal. I blame the society and education for most of such cases. Our society supports male domination and that's ok but the society should also teach that a male should be dominant and strong to protect the weak around them, not to harm them. And the education system is even worse. There is never a good class on sex education. When I was in school I asked our "health" subject teacher why she didn't talk about sex education and she simply said that we don't need to know about those stuff. I was surprised the whole day. And one thing I want to say to all the rapist and who have the thinking or ideology of a rapist, You guys should learn how to control your organ otherwise it won't be long until some brother or father hunt you down to death
