Hey guys, so I have hopped on both and keep doing it again and again, and I keep coming up with the same conclusions. Here's my thoughts "Pros & Cons" on the Case and Deere quads.
Now again, I do keep thinking of new and different things as I go, but this is what I have thus far. I don't have bias, I don't care as long as it pulls. 🙂

Mike I am very curious how our tractor would do, it is too light right now at 55k but if tires filled it'd be around 70k. I'm betting the 620 quad would still have the edge but these old kta19 engines can lug way down to the 1500 rpm range before needing to downshift. Also our footprint isn't large enough, would need larger or more tires.

Fair and unbias. All the manufacturers should see this very informative video. Engineers are listening. I had an Uber passenger, he is an engineer at Freightliner in Cleveland, North Carolina. I'm a retired truck driver, yep I was a BillyBob Big Rigger. He asked my input. What should we be doing? We had great conversation. He was new, just out of school, still valued my knowledge. So yeah everybody, they need our input, the end users, the mechanics who have to do their own maintenance.

Hi Mike, recently subscribed and love the fun and informative vids!! Especially love this one as I've recently taken delivery of a Case 540. We had run a secondhand 480 for five years, but unfortunately let us down the last couple of harvests, so it had to go. Tried a 9RX and a 620 Case. All the points you made I picked up on when we had the demos, so at least I now know i made the right decision, both good machines and we have good dealer back up for both, also my operator preferred the Case and he's the one who's going to be on it all season, so if he wants to be in it, he'll get the most out of it. Shame its not got the fridge, as I dont think my operator is going to want to go home, in fear that someone else will drive it!! Keep up the good work. William from the UK

Truth be told every tractor preforms differently in different conditions , it all is broken down to what job your doing with the tractor , and yes, each brand ( if it’s case, John Deere, Kubota , Challenger, etc...) all have their pros and cons. It all comes down to1: what you need a tractor to do for you, 2:what type of terrain/climate your farming in , 3:implements your towing/pulling with your tractor,etc... 4: most importantly, what tractor fits your needs the beat for your farm/ plot of land?. I’m not bashing any brand or tractor , just adding in what I personally thing is a good way to sum it all up, I am not a farmer myself,(16 year old teen, wished I lived on a farm/ did farming though) but from what I’ve watched and observed from KZfaq videos on farming, is that every farm has curtain tractor for curtain jobs, there’s no “one tractor does all”. That’s just my personal thoughts though. Also,Mike, keep up the great, I love watching your videos , there very informational and interesting to watch , keep it up

Another great vid Mike thanks for sharing. The main reason overhead power lines are overhead and not underground is a simple one.... Cost. It is roughly 5 times the cost to put a line underground. Maintenance on underground lines is also a lot higher. Repair costs to an underground cable can be around 10 times the cost of above ground depending on the cable and location. Another consideration is repair times/cost and Upgrade times/cost. Repair and upgrade times and options for underground is considerably longer and way more costly than for overhead. Underground cabling can still break down and has its own risks eg dug up, sheath deterioration . Whereas an above ground line you can see it, you know where it is and is less likely to be damaged by equipment etc. its disadvantage is it is prone to nature and the forces of nature. One other point i noticed you said at times about 3 ft from power lines.... hmmm depending on the voltage of that line the min clearance you should work on to be totally safe is 10feet.. But you can only do what you can do. The main risks in getting so close is arcing risks but am sure you know about that...In fact I know you do as in one of your other vids you were on the back tank unit and were getting close to power lines and you stated "opps getting close to those power lines time to get off this"

I do like the fair reviews, and I am a case guy I do do believe they build better 4wd tractors over their competitors. But John deere i think build better smaller tractors. I think for your operation and honestly most operations the pros do out weight the cons by a bunch. But different strokes for different folks. Everyone wants something different in their machines. Thank you for the honest review and I hope you keep doing them to gain us viewers more knowledge when shopping for equipment!

This was quite intersting and pretty cool to see. Thanks for the vids Mike. 😁 And I agree about the colour bashing / manufacturer bashing... every manufacturer has their vision and what they want to make same like cars ... It's the vehicle you need to to the job you want it to do best that you gonna buy... no use buying an axe if you can buy a chainsaw to cut some trees to make a clearing... but for chopping wood for a fire the chainsaw may be a bit overkill... 😉 I love the sounds the farm vehicles make, so soothing 😎 Very informative videos. Learning quite a lot, thank you.

Hi Mate...🇨🇦..🇦🇺 Totally agreed on the issues of what tractor is the best, our farm has primary run JD's since my grand father's days. We do have a 🌈 of tractors on our farm, each different brand of tractor has a purpose and performs best to its position on the farm. For our big HP heavy pulling tractors we are changing to Versitile DT 610's, we ran one as a demo this planting season, with the HP bumped to 680hp and we're convinced that it's the best suited tractor for our operations.. You gotta get one out there on your farm and give it a shot at the trophy...😁😂 Stay safe..

One thing I really like with the Fendt is it has a much better front window wiper. Being mounted from the bottom it gives a big sweep and pushes all the water and mud to the bottom of the window where it continues down out of your vision and not up just for it to run down into the area it just wiped clean. Also when off it tucks away out of your vision. Pretty obvious really. You would think these other brands with their millions of dollars spent on R&D could figure that out. Good reviews Mike. Honest with no sales man spin.

Mike - Great job on your impartial Red & Green Quad comparison video, very educational. I agree with your main point: Dealer support/warranty is the primary driver. I like the way that you present pros and cons of each color. Every color has a plus and a minus, the ideal machine doesn’t exist. Questions: 1) How would a triple tire 620 Case Articulated compare to the Quad in traction and cost? 2) Regardless of machine color how well do tracks wear compared to tires (time/miles/hours) and generally, what is the cost difference to replace a track belt vs a tire. Thanks for taking your time to make the video - keep um coming
@mikemitchell2554
@mikemitchell2554 4 жыл бұрын
I guess I am not sure, we don't typically keep the them long enough to wear then down. I think in my experience the tracks hold up better. The problem with the triples in my experience is 3 things. 1: your very wide going washouts, it's hard on studs. 2: the resale value isn't as good because guys typically want the tracks. And 3: I like that I don't have to call I tire shop because I ran over something.

I like your channel for the fact that you tell bad things about all brands and do not play favorites. My preferable brand are JCB Fastracs that wouldn't work for you since they top out around 300 hp. Love your channel Mike, being a farmer was my childhood dream so I'm a retired software engineer living vicariously through you and others. Just wondering if you do anything to protect your hearing hours running machinery can take a toll. From an old man wearing hearing aids 😆
