@@Northern_Farmer Hi and thank you for your reply. Surely there must be breakers yards where you could get the bits you need ? Make a stockpile of them to cover every eventuality - senseless to put such a capable machine out to grass for lack of spares. No DEF to strangle the life out of the engine, as is currently happening, with a these post exhaust treatments seemingly all the rage - just one big con job, if you ask me. I blame Al Gore, the bore, for setting that ball rolling.

I love to see people really use 2wd tractors to their potential. 30ft cultivators, this is as much as I've seen a 2wd pull. 8 bottom through grass with heavy root structures and pretty heavy soil.

Australian farmer. I did many hours on a Case 2390 and 4490 in the 80's, while working as a farmhand. I liked the 2390 better. Quieter cab and less grease nipples to grease. The 4490 had a transmission whine too. But they were good tractors. I'm still farming with an Inter 1586 and a 4586. Nice to see you guys operating the classics.

Out of curiosity what would make a IH plow pull easier than a John Deere
@GosselinFarmsEdGosselin2 жыл бұрын
@@76verdee back in the day.. we had an old JD semi mount and an IH semi mount, both 4-16"s. Pulled the JD behind a 4010 and the IH behind an AC200.. same size tractors. The AC would lap the JD in a little over a mile. One day we we're looking at them side by side while servicing. The angles are way different. The JD was more like a bulldozer Straight blade, the IH more like an angel blade. We even swapped them on tractors, then the 4010 would lap the 200... I don't know if they've changed the angle over the years. We don't plow anymore, just use a big offset disc.

We have one here, great power. Our issue is the power shift and hydraulic system. For some reason the disc packs in the trans have decided to delaminate and clog the screen in the trans housing. That screen is almost totally inaccessable without splitting the rear from the trans. We have pulled the rear pto and housing from the rear and managed to clean the screen a few times to get it going again as there aren't any qualified Case mechanics around here. First to fail was the wet brakes, replaced those and cleaned the system. Then the pto pack went and had to clean every thing again. The powershift seems ok and we have managed to use it for a while but now the main hydraulic pump has decided to go south. These tractors are a ticking time bomb for money eating failures! They basically have no resale value here in the Midwest, mainly because of lack of dealer backing, who wants to spend 15 to 20 K on repairs on a tractor with little value other than keep trying to use it? We bought a used Deere 4850 with power shift, not as powerful but also not down all the time. Good thing we did so I have something that will go when needed!
