Hey guys welcome back to the channel!! Last year I did a video looking back on 2013 pop culture after people on tiktok had been talking about how they wished they were a teenager during that time lol. Since then I've had some of yall ask to do one for 2014 so I thought why not lol. With the last video I had talked a little bit about fashion and lifestyle aspects of 2013, honestly between 2013-2014 those trends were the same (i.e american apparel and brandy melville obsession, the wreck this journal, succulents, tumblr, etc lol) so I ended up focusing fully on pop culture this time around. We're talking the vine boom, bang bang, ariana and iggy azalea's come up this year, BANG BANG, the fault in our stars, BANG BANG.... that time abigail breslin wrote a diss track about michael clifford from 5sos (??? lol), and a little bit of one direction lore from that year that i fogot to cover in my previous video on them as well. hopefully you end up liking it! if there's stuff i missed or even stuff i mentioned that you wanna expand on in the comments feel free, it turns the comments into a cool little time capsule in a way lol

speaking of nostalgia, I myself am also a victim of it, but it’s also funny how we are like ”oh i wish to be a teen in 2014 or wtv” meanwhile a lot of teens in 2014 either were bored af or wish they were born another decade before. Not saying that is was not a simpler time, but I feel like nostalgia will always play a part in sort of blinding us. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk :)

This video needed more Lana del Rey’s Ultraviolence. This album was huge and a big part of my 2014’s soundtrack. This year for me was also one the saddest since I was on the peak of my mental illness, fed by tumblr’s mentally ill community which encouraged depression as an “aesthetic”. Looking back I remember being on tumblr like 24/7.

Omg I remember when John Green went on tour to different malls and my friends and I left school early to go to downtown Cleveland to the mall to stand in a super long line to be in the crowd to see John Green on a stage talking about The Fault in Our Stars. There were SO many people there and a lot of them were crying, when we were walking down the line to get to our spot we saw a group of “popular girls” from school and we were PISSED because they were further up in the line than us which means they probably entirely skipped school and they even got a picture in the local paper, but we did get a poster which was cool

My parents had three daughters. Three daughters who loved to sing. So Bang Bang comes out and now we’re Ariana, Jessie, and Nicki. My oldest sister (I am the youngest) had a strong belting voice, so she’s Jessie. The other sister could sing any high note, so she’s Ariana. And me, a *seven* year old, well, I was Nicki. 2014 was the year when The Flash debuted and practically kick-started the Arrowverse. This was also the year when The Amazing Spider-Man 2 would be Andrew Garfield’s last time playing the character (and the movie had a clip from X-Men: Days of Future Past as a post-credits scene because of some promo contract with Fox at the time). X-Men: Days of Future Past would be the last good X-Men movie to be release (Deadpool & Logan notwithstanding). Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy were the best MCU movies of 2014. Lastly, who can forget Flappy Bird?
