The Casio AE1500 is a great value at only about $20 - $25 right now, depending on where you shop. It has a large LCD screen with the largest digits of any Casio watch I own. It would make a great watch for someone who has special needs with regard to vision. In addition to its normal timekeeping it has five customizable alarms, an hourly chime, a 24-hour countdown timer with an auto-repeat option, a 24-hour stopwatch and a Dual Time mode. The watch can be set to a 12-hour or 24-hour display for the local and Dual Time modes. The watch has an impressive band considering the low price. It is water resistant to 100 meters and it can run for up to 10 years on a common CR2032 lithium battery. Detailed instructions are available for download from Casio's website. Just look for module 3502.
I bought these two AE1500 watches from local Walmart stores where they each were priced at just $19.92. There's another "Negative LCD" version which I've seen online.

The value for money of this model is very impressive. Casio are the masters of making reliable watches that look good, for budget prices.

I bought the positive and the negative display. I love them both, serious value for money. Sometimes I wonder why I bought expensive swiss automatic watches. I might sell them soon because I am wearing my Casio watches all the time. You really only need this brand in your collection as far as I'm concerned. Nice one Greg😉

I bought the black one a week ago. As Gshocks have gotten bigger, the time display remained small. This one has a large display bigger than any Gshock I have seen.

Casio - WHY, OH WHY - you almost made the perfect watch !!! WHY does this watch NOT display the current time in any of the other modes ?!? This is a MAJOR pet-peeve of mine. Especially with a display this large - there’s no reason for this watch not to display the home time in CDT, or stopwatch mode ( and ESPECIALLY duel time mode - where you would really want it ! ). Major oversite with these new watches. I think Casio is finally seeing the light though - since they released the “U” version of the 5610 series. I’m hoping they will also do this with the GW6900 and have a “GW6900U” model out as well that displays the home time in every mode. Ok - off my soap box now with Casio haha

Just got the khaki color version. Very nice watch, great display, very very crispy, and the brownish light tint on parts of the display is a great add. This is a very light weight watch, i use it all day, sleep with it and it doesn't bother me at all. Strap side, the material is kinda sturdy near the display, but get more flexible around the wrist, i have no complains about it. The buckle, tho made in plastic, is very comfortable to me. Light is not that much bright, but is more than enough to see the time. Hourly chime is a great feature, i like it very much. The khaki color is a bit more darker and opaque than is show in pictures or videos we see on internet, but i like it better that way, is almost a light gray color, which is even more neutral, so goes well with any clothing you might be using. It is a very beautiful color, and truly remind us of military equipment designed for using at desert/sand environments. Very cool watch, and at this price it's a must. It's a classic already, surely I intend to get the other 2 colors as well.

Just ordered one, in khaki colour. Love the digital size . Would like to see an affordable g shock version of this with tough solar and multi band 6 or Bluetooth.

I own the black with negative display. So good to read. I own also an Casio Rangeman 9400 with negative display. Thinking about to sell it. Little display and so hard to read.

I got this watch, and measured it up to my G-shock that has multi band 6, after 3 months it has lost 1 second... I am starting to think these watches may have multi band 6 unless I have a very very good Ae1500, with exceptional time keeping.

Quartz watches are supposed to lose/gain 15 seconds a month, but I have a cheap Lorus that lost only 10 seconds after more than 8 months. No way Casio would just sneak in multi band 6 without mentioning it on the face and in such a low priced watch.

@Douglas Pantera Still every manufacturer of quartz watches has the standard 15+ 15- warning. I guess they have to cover their butts and avoid consumer disappointment. That Lorus, I forgot to mention was an analog quarts watch and still is incredibly accurate. So you are on to something for sure.

Target seems to have stopped carrying watches altogether. Sadly evident in the cell phone area, these budget type of watches are becoming a dying breed, at retail stores anyway.

Does changing the battery affect water resistance?

If it’s done correctly there should be no change in water resistance. Make sure the O-ring is in good condition and is placed correctly. Don’t over-tighten those tiny screws. You should be fine.

Hi Greg, Loving the channel, thank-you for the great content… I’m a long term Casio Wave Ceptor fan, and in the vein of your collecting Casio piece, I’m hoping to tap into your Casio knowledge to help me figure out a model number of an older Casio Wave Ceptor, sold in +/- 2005. Titanium body/band, analogue/digital, black dial, 4 buttons, 100m water resist…. Similar to todays WVAM640D-1A…. I’d attach a picture, but I KZfaq’s comments feature won’t seem to allow it. :-( Any assistance much appreciated! Rick

If you aren't joking, set the correct year, month, and date! Beware the first digit is the month, the second is the date.

Casio’s model designation of AE1500 is strange. It is not a World Time watch, like most of the other AExxxx watches. It does not share a case with another AExxxx watch, like the AE1300 sharing the AE1200 case. I have at least one of every AExxxx model, but I am going to pass on this one. The larger digits for the time are a nice feature.

@greg Is there a way to private message you? I have a nice STB-1000 from around 2010, one of the first with bluetooth. The Apple App STB-1000+ is still online, but unfortunately all other apps like Runtastic, Runmeter, Wahoo etc. are no longer supporting this old watch.
