Casio G-Shock GA-700: Why I prefer it to the GA-100

The GA-700 and GA-100 series are just great beater watches. Both these XL Ana-Digi G-Shocks are extremely popular due to their affordable pricing.
But for me, the GA-700 has just that extra bit of oomph. Let me share with you some reasons why I prefer the GA-700.

i think the ga-100 is way more legible. there's too much going on on the ga-700 (watchface to hand size ratio).

Ga100 has 24 hours countdown timer if you prefer that feature over the 60 minutes CT on ga700

@@AndyinSG Agreed! I have Casio's I've owned since the 80s and they all still work fine today! I'm loving the G-Shock range at the minute. No problem at all, I enjoy the content. Missing the green 🐻!

I was waiting for you to mention the hand shift function. The GA700 can move the hands out of the way if you want to look at the screen by pressing the light and lower left.

The only strange thing about the 5522 module is, if you mute the buttons there is no indication of that on the home screen. I always thought Casio put that there for military and law enforcement so they could verify that their watch was silent before pressing any buttons. I am not sure I have seen another GShock that doesn't show that if it allows the mute function.

Hi 😊 great review, I’ve just been given the 700 as a birthday gift. How easy would it be to mod the hour and minute hands ? I would like to black out the hands like you have on your 700. Is this easy to do?

Thanks for dropping by. Well, I’m not sure about mods because it usually involves more effort in ordering the parts and bringing it to the mod guy. Pretty sure you can get parts from the usual Casio parts sellers such as PacParts.

I have a GA-100CM gray (camo) and wore it since 2014. Too bad the strap broke and the resin bezel had faded. Time to upgrade to the GA-700CM.

Wouldn’t say the GA700 is an upgrade. More like I just prefer it to the GA100. Both great ana-digi for daily wear though. Super rugged. Only caveat is, your attire got to allow these watches.

@@AndyinSG GA700 is HUGE upgrade. I have GA100, GA110 and GA700. Its waaay better than any GA100 and GA110. Also you have option tu buy bezel and strap for about 11$, just change it on GA100 or GA700 and you have new color, new band, bezel...

@@krisdzons Glad you’re liking it. I guess they’re all pretty good daily watches. Some features like light button placement or LCD panel layouts could be down to preference. I’m still happily rocking my GA700s during work days.

GA 100 looks a bit too cheap, GA 700 is definitely the better looking watch. That being said, for me the Mudmaster is the best ana-digi watch that Casio makes.

I definitely preferred the GA700. But now it’s strictly GA2100 for me.
